"John murmured annoyed as he was still on his way down to Tymdek, Feyth and Keno even after half an hour. The serpentines he sprinted along had been laid out extra flat to allow the heavy commercial carts an easy ascent. The only drawback of this design was that the length of the path roughly quadrupled.

But all this immediately disappeared from his head as he glanced at the little dragon girl who was waiting impatiently for him down there and was only stopped by her father from swinging into the air and throwing herself at him. The sight made his heart beat a tick faster. He finally had a task in his life again that really inspired him to give everything. It was a feeling similar to the one we had then. A big smile spread all over his face. He'd make it up to her for everything he'd done to her.

Finally Titan turned into the last straight before the desert and came to a standstill a few moments later in front of the three others. He just managed to pull his helmet off his head, then Feyth already jumped on him.

*You big stupid fool! Do you even know how scared I was for you? Never do that again John! sobbed the little dragon girl overjoyed and rubbed her head violently on John's cheek. He ignored the scraping feeling on his skin and returned the hug as gently as he could. "I'm looking forward to seeing you too, kiddo."

He gently stroked her neck and could taste her joy on his tongue. She seemed to fill his whole being with it, a truly intoxicating feeling. This intimate moment lasted for a few seconds before Feyth let go of him again and then watched him curiously from the floor. She ejected a surprised hissing as she noticed the chains on his arms and legs. But before the little dragon could even say anything about it, she opened her eyes in amazement and stared at his face with her mouth open. *John! Dei - your eye!* brought them forth stammering. John winked at her knowing "I'll tell you what happened, just let me say hello to Keno and your father."

With these words he reached out his hand to the young dragon rider, who had been patiently waiting next to Tymdek the whole time. "Nice to see you again, boy, happy you made it out of there in one piece," he said smiling. "Keno replied, but even his grin disappeared like a slap from his face when he looked at the Titan. "How?" he gasped in confusion, but John had already turned to the big, black dragon, who was hauntingly looking at him with his crystal blue eyes.

The soldier bowed his head respectfully, but said nothing, waiting for Tymdek's words. Finally, after the dragon had looked at him in perfect silence for almost a whole minute, he also bowed his head out of respect and said in a deep voice: *I see I was right about my guess back then. I do not regret entrusting Feyth to you hunters, you are truly the right one. Angela must have already told you the story, I suppose?* John must have nodded. "She did." *Then I owe you an apology for my behavior Meister Miller, it was no coincidence that I attacked you in the small clearing, but a kind of 'test', if you can call it that.* "You don't have to apologize to Tymdek. You did what you thought was right for you as a father, even though I personally would have preferred a less painful test," soothed the Titan and chuckled his way through his hair.

*Something got out of hand, yeah. I was just scared to see how you would behave towards the young man, but when you went on to counterattack, I was seized by the desire to fight.* Tymdek replied, half amused, half ashamed. John smiled mischievously. "It's probably in the family, though I think your brother got a little more of it than you did." Horror spread in the face of the great dragon. *Dun'var attacked you? he asked shocked and the soldier nodded again. "Yes, but it wasn't your fault. He rather came by to talk to my haemophiliacs or the leader," he explained, inhaling a cloud of sulfur-smelling air from Tymdek's nostrils.

This one growled threateningly. *Doesn't make any sense, Dun'var would never make common cause with the Black Rose. It seemed to be more about seeing an old friend," John remarked thoughtfully as he remembered the tenderness between the dragon and Alanna. Feyth's father snorted thoughtfully. *A boyfriend? My brother has no friends, except for - * He faltered in the middle of a sentence and tasted the air with his forked tongue.
