I woke up the next morning feeling slightly disorientated. I rubbed my eyes and got out of bed.
"Morning, Mol, sleep well?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Good, what would you like for breakfast?"
"I'll just have some toast, please."
"Okay, no problem."
I checked my phone sneakily, Taylor had banned them last night while we watched and dreadfully sang along to Mamma Mia. I'd had 14 texts and 11 missed calls from Sherlock, I decide to let him stew. No doubt I'd be seeing him later at work. Taylor came over with breakfast.
"What's the plan for today then?"
"Well, I've got work today so that's my plan."
"Oh fun."
"It's not too bad, I guess, and there's a new IT guy there who seems nice, he pops in from time to time to say hello."
"Oh really?" Taylor said with a suggestive look in her eye.
"Oh my God, Taylor. Do you really think that little of me? I called off my engagement last night to the man who's twins I'm six months pregnant with!"
"Oh, Molly I'm sorry, I was joking."
"Yeah so was I, I'm gonna go get ready."
"Oh you sly bitch, let me know when you're done in the bath room."
I stood up and made my way into the bathroom to get a wash. I stared at the woman in the mirror. She didn't look like me. She had a fuller face but her eyes were sunken and tired. I splashed some cold water over my face and went to get dressed. I pulled my clothes out of my overnight bag and quickly got dressed. I picked my bag up off the chair and went through and put my shoes on.
"I'm going to set off now so I can walk."
"Okay, I'll see you later, if you need me at all today ring me."
"I will do, thank you."
I stepped out into the street and stood for a second, letting the morning breeze wrap around me. I made my way down the street and smiled at people as they walked past me. I felt like I'd been walking for hours when I finally got to St Bart's. I walked inside and let all the worries from the night before melt away as I got stuck into my work.
"Good morning, Molly. Brought you a coffee."
I looked round and saw Jim in the doorway.
"Oh, good morning, Jim."
"Bloody hell are you okay?"
I shook my head as I tried not to cry. Jim set the mugs down and came over to me.
"Oh God what happened?"
"Me and Sherlock, we broke up."
"Oh, Molly, I'm so sorry."
"It's ok, I broke up with him. I couldn't cope any more."
"Cope with what, if you don't mind me asking."
"Everything, if I'm honest. I mean if I weren't pregnant I'd be able to put up with him being out at all hours on those bloody cases of his."
"Oh, Molly, I don't know what to say."
"It's okay, I'm okay, I'm just worried about the babies. What am I going to do, Jim?"
He put his arm around me while I had a few tears. I looked up as I heard the door open.
"What's going on here?"
"Oh fucking hell, Sherlock, calm down. Someone is actually giving a shit about me for a change that's what's happening. And anyway, what's it got to do with you now?"
"Well, while you're carrying my children I'd say it's got quite a lot to do with me actually."
"I'll go, if it'll make things a bit less awkward." Jim said from the corner.
"No, you're not bloody going anywhere, you're staying right here. He's going to leave."
"Molly, don't be like this."
"Oh I'm so sick of you Sherlock, for ages I begged and pleaded for you to not put yourself in danger on your cases but you still went, didn't you? So why should I change to suit you when you didn't sacrifice anything for me."
"But that's completely different."
"Oh my God, no it isn't," I stood there shaking with rage, "I think you should just go I can't be doing with this right now."
I felt a stabbing pain all through my stomach, I placed my hand on it and bent over slightly.
"Oh my God, are you okay?" Sherlock asked worriedly whilst making his way back over to me.
"I'm fine, just get out."
Sherlock looked so hurt as he left the room and I couldn't help but feel sad.
"Come on," said Jim, "let's get you sat down."
Jim helped me over to the seat and I sat down for a moment until the pain passed.
"God, I've never felt a pain like that."
"Well, to be fair, this is the first time you've been pregnant."
"True, if it carries on I'll go to the hospital."
"Good, I better get off actually and do some, you know, actual work."
"Okay," I laughed, "I'll see you later, maybe?"
"Yeah, you definitely will."
I smiled at Jim as he left then started work on the mountain of papers on my desk.
Molly. Please stop punishing me. I love you so much. Sherlock x
I took a deep breath and decided that I'd call Sherlock.
"Hey, Molly, you okay?"
"Well I would be if you just let me have some time on my own, I feel smothered if I'm honest."
"But, Molly."
"'But' nothing, Sherlock, you messed up and I left, deal with it."
He didn't say anything, he didn't have to. I knew what he was thinking.
"Just give me time, to think things through, it might not be forever. I just need some alone time."
"So, there's a chance this isn't forever?"
"Yes, I'm not promising anything though."
"Okay."
"Oh shit." I winced down the phone.
"Molly, Molly, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just this weird pain, been happening on and off for a bit now."
"Oh my God, Molly, is it the babies?"
"Oh shit, I don't know." I just cried down the phone.
"Molly, stay calm, don't move, I'll be there as soon as I can."
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, I'm on my way now."
I stayed sat down and waited for Sherlock, the pain was gradually getting worse. I heard the doors burst open and heard Sherlock's quickening footsteps coming towards me.
"Oh Sherlock, thank God you're here."
"Okay, come on, try stand up."
I stood up slowly and Sherlock put my arm around his neck and he put his arm around my waist and guided me out.
"They can't be coming now, they just can't, it's too early."
"I know, Molly, just try to stay calm, everything's going to be okay."
