Six days had passed since Sherlock had stopped at mine, six glorious days of officially being his girlfriend, six wonderful days of holding his hand in public, six marvellous days of well everything. Yet something didn't feel quite right. I didn't think any thing of it, I was probably just feeling under the weather, just a cold it'd soon pass. Two weeks later and something still wasn't quite right, so the next time I was at Sherlock and John's I had a discreet word with John.
"Hey, John, can I have a quick word with you while Sherl's in the shower?"
"Yeah of course, what's up?"
"Well, just under three weeks ago, Sherlock stayed the night at mine and to be honest ever since that night something's felt not quite normal."
"I see, did you use some form of contaceptive?"
"Yeah, that's what I don't understand, I mean then we'd only been together twice but on both occasions we were careful."
"Well, Molly, you probably know what I'm thinking and I sure as hell know what you're thinking. Come for an appointment tomorrow and we'll do this properly."
"Thank you, John, and don't say anything to Sherlock will you, at least not until I know."
"Patient confidentiality, Molly, what's said and done at the Doctor's surgery stays at the Doctor's surgery."
"Thank you," I whispered.
He smiled at me, "say no more of it, don't go worrying yourself it's not worth it and if I'm right Sherlock will be coming back through right about now. Ah right on cue."
I looked round and saw the father of my potential baby stood there in his pajamas with his wet curls clinging to his forehead, the emotions took over and I turned back round to face John and a single tear rolled down my cheek. John saw me and said, "while you're standing there doing nothing make me and Molly a cup of tea would you."
I heard him chunter in the way a teenager would after their mother had asked them to do something.
"You okay?" He whispered.
I wiped the tear away and nodded my head.
"Hey you two, shall I put something a bit stronger in these teas."
I panicked my eyes widened and I just stared at John hoping he'd have the answer.
"Bloody hell Sherlock, that whisky was in that cupboard before we even moved in according to Mrs Hudson, no the only thing I'd do with that is strip paint. And anyway I have work in the morning can't be risking it can I?"
My heart was pounding.
"Yeah you've probably got a good point."
I sank into my chair, relieved, more relieved than I'd ever been in my life.
He came over carrying the three mugs and set them down on the table.
"Excuse me a second." I got up out of the chair and walked to the bathroom, I don't know why but the smell of tea made me feel sick. I put the tap on and held my hair back and knelt over the toilet bowl. Nothing. I stood back up, flushed the toilet anyway and washed my hands.
"You okay?" Sherl asked as I sat back down.
"Yeah I'm fine, just needed the loo. Actually, do you mind if I sit on the sofa instead, my back's playing up today?" It wasn't, I just needed to be on my own without actually being alone.
"Of course, why would we mind?"
I picked my tea up and went over the sofa and sat with my legs up beside me just staring into space. I don't know how long I sat there for but next thing I knew Sherlock was asking if I was coming to bed. I blinked up at him and checked my watch, it was gone midnight, "yeah I'll just be a sec."
