Renjun's shocked to find out that the quiet, moody looking boy who sits next to him at school is actually much sweeter than he appears.

Renjun slammed his locker shut at the sound of the bell, indicating it was time to go to class. He sighed, slinging his backpack over one shoulder and making his way to his math class.
He had moved here from China, and this was his first year of high school in Korea. He had gone a solid semester and a half without getting any excessive attention from other students, as he wanted. People intimidated him, so he never approached anyone, and others probably saw him as the small Chinese kid who never talked so no one approached him either. Aside from Chenle, who he had met in his language class and was also Chinese, he wasn't close with anyone else.
There was a test today which he wanted to do well on, so he was feeling a little nervous. Yeah, he studied over the weekend, but there was always the chance of making dumb mistakes, especially with his mind being hardly awake. What kind of teacher puts a test on a Monday morning? He thought. In an attempt to calm his nerves he hummed a gentle tune as he walked, dodging the sea of students who were also trying to get to their morning classes.
Renjun made it to class a minute before the last bell rang, and he took a seat at his usual spot. The desks were spaced out as it was a test day, and he noticed Jaemin, the kid who usually sat next to him, in the desk beside his using the last few precious minutes to review the material. Although he saw Jaemin every day, Renjun couldn't figure out what his deal was. He would show up to class with a poker face, quietly take notes, ask no questions and then leave when class ended. Unlike the other students in the class who were chatty and outgoing, his deskmate seemed to always be in a serious mood. Renjun couldn't judge though, he probably looked the same.
Shaking the thoughts out of his head, he focused his mind back to the task at hand. He took out his pencil, eraser, ruler and calculator he needed for the test and sat down, waiting for the rest of his classmates to get settled.
"Alright students," the teacher, Mr. Seo, called, gathering everyone's attention. "You'll need a pencil and eraser, and ruler for drawing the asymptotes. Remember that calculators are allowed and highly recommended for this test since you'll be needing to calculate the end behaviours of the functions. If anyone needs to borrow a ruler or calculator I have a few extras up at the front. I hope you all studied well over the weekend, good luck!" He grabbed the stack of tests from his desk and handed them out to each student, then returned to his desk and began typing away at his laptop.
Renjun sighed inwardly. How can someone so young have so much energy in the mornings, he thought as he wrote his name on the test paper. He quickly flipped through the questions and felt relieved when he saw that all the questions looked relatively easy. Settling into a comfortable position, he began to write.
After around half an hour, Renjun stopped for a moment to bring his mind back to reality. He inhaled deeply, calming his mind, before going back to his test. He pressed out more lead from his mechanical pencil, but the lead was too short and went back in when he tried to write.
Okay... Renjun thought, slightly panicked. He still had two pages left to write, and with the remaining lead in his pencil he could probably do one more problem before running out completely. I should've brought a second pencil, Renjun groaned internally. Or at least extra lead. What am I gonna do now? Should I ask Seo for a pencil? I don't want to disturb the class and whatever work he's doing. But I can't leave the rest of my test blank? Should I ask someone next to me? No, Seo will probably think im cheating.
