"T?" I called into the seemingly empty apartment only to hear my echo respond back.
"In here" a voice called from the bedroom.
I shut the door behind me and placed the spare key onto the table on my way past. I pushed on the door slightly to reveal a tired and messy girl wrapped up in the blankets like a burrito.
"Oh god it's worse then I thought" I breathed and leant my weight against the door frame. She rolled her eyes and let out a small laugh.
"C'mon let me assess the damage" I strided across the room and she sat up, her duvet falling to reveal an old and tattered 'I ❤️ NY' hoodie. I sat down and took her face in my hands turning her head both ways to inspect it.
"Alright, eyebags, mascara stains and greasy hair. Looks like a classic broken heart." I dropped my hand from her face and she rubbed her eye with her sweater paws.
"Get up, take a shower and sort out your life" I stood up and commanded her and she leaned her head back, letting out a groan.
"This is for your own good" I wrapped a hand around her wrist and pulled her up off of the bed despite her reluctancy to do so.
"Go on, stop being so greasy" I patted her bum as she walked past and she giggled, running to the bathroom. I began to collect the tubs of ice-cream and endless packets of Doritos scattered around the floor and bedding and made my way through the small apartment to throw it in the trash. The sound of running water from the shower left me satisfied with my work.
"Tills, I'm gonna go now. I'll pick you up at 8 and we're gonna go out, you better look sexy" I opened the bathroom door slightly to ensure that I could be heard.
"Ok bye, love you" she called over the sounds of water hitting the bathtub.
