Chapter 4.5 - Getting Situated Pt.2
A/N: Hey guys. I originally planned on making these two chapters as one but I decided it would be better for myself and better time wise to split them up.
[Y/N POV]
I flicked on my blinker to signal to the cars behind me that I was turning right. Susie was in the passenger seat, happily looking out of the window at the passing city. I had some Hail The Sun playing quietly in the background which she moved her head to, ever so slightly.
We were making our way to Macy's to get some clothes for Susie, so she could officially start her new life however she wanted to. I still didn't know what her plan for the future was but, but I did know that I wanted to help her in any way I could.
Susie: "Woah! What's that?"
I quickly followed her gaze and saw she was staring at a large statue of Freddy Krueger towering over the small shops that surrounded it. It really was a sight to behold and even I looked on in awe for a quick second.
Y/N: "That's Freddy Krueger, well a statue of him at least."
Susie: "Who's Freddy Krueger?"
Y/N: " He's a really popular urban legend, and he gets even more popular during Halloween. He supposedly haunts your dreams or something like that."
Susie: "It's almost Halloween?!"
Y/N: "Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that?"
Susie: "Yeah, I think you did..."
She trailed off at the end of the sentence, as a look of gloom began to overtake her face. She looked down at her lap and went silent, a far cry from her demeanor before.
I quickly began to try to come up with a coherent sentence that could cheer her up, but It was a lot more challenging considering that I didn't even know what was wrong.
Y/N: "I-is everything okay?"
She looked up at me with tearful eyes that made my heart sink.
Susie: "What if I can't age? What if I can never go back to my old life?"
My mind started racing, trying to figure out what she meant, and after a moment everything clicked. She mentioned to me that when she was stuck at the ski resort she would "reset" every morning. She had to be thinking about that.
Y/N: "Well, you said that when you reset your clothes would also reset, right? They didn't this morning, so I think it's okay."
I tried to sound as reassuring as possible but in reality what I was saying had no proof or ground to base it on. When it came to all this supernatural stuff I was lost.
[Susie POV]
Y/N's words calmed me down only slightly. He had a good point but he wasn't in the same position I was. He just... doesn't understand. The only thing I can imagine is him leaving me behind.
I'm stuck here at the same age as he grows up and continues with his life, and I'm not in it. He's the only reason I'm here, free, right now and without him I'm nothing.
Ugh I'm being selfish. I can't ruin my first trip with Y/N!
Susie: "Yeah, I guess you're right."
I could see he wasn't completely satisfied with my response, but luckily for me he decided to drop it.
I quickly changed the subject and talked about some random Netflix show that luckily Y/N knew a lot about. We arrived at the Macy's soon after and exited the car.
