OLIVIA
I couldn't believe how out of breath I was. I had ran miles and not been this out of breath, but with Paxton's hands all over my body I couldn't properly breathe. The warmth of his mouth on mine, the feeling of his big, calloused hands on the back of my neck pulling me closer to him. If I died in this moment, I'd die a happy woman.
I could hear his breath hitch and my own heart beat as he released me from his hold and started to unbutton my pants. My skin was hot and my body was more than ready to be touched by this man.
"Are you okay sweetheart?" Paxton asks me inbetween placing rough kisses on my neck.
Just the sound of his voice sent an instant surge of heat to my insides.
"Why are you stopping?" I asked before I bit my lip while looking him in the eyes. He smirks at me and starts to drop his mouth to mine for another kiss.
The doors open without warning and all of a sudden we're both staring at Jonathan. He's standing in the doorway with his arms crossed and a grin on his devilish mouth.
"Oh, I see. This is why you didn't like the flowers I sent you? Already getting around with the other players? I'd say no hard feelings, but I'm sure Paxxy here doesn't like to share." Jonathan winks at us and then leaves as suddenly as he came.
I look back at Paxton and his expression is unreadable. He keeps looking at the door like he's waiting for something else to happen. His hands are still on my hips and he's close enough that I can feel his heartbeat on my skin.
"Paxton..." I whisper. "It's not what you think."
He chuckles to himself, still facing the door, but releasing his hands off of me slowly.
"I can't believe how stupid I am. I guess you should clear things up with him."
Before I can try and explain to him what is going on he's grabbing his gear and leaving without making eye contact with me. My eyes are fixated on him, on his every movement but I can't find the words to say.
It feels like an eternity before I start to move towards the door Jonathan left through.
He's standing at the end of the hallway, leaning up against a wall and looking at his phone. He doesn't seem to notice me, which is probably for the best considering I don't even want to look at his smug face right now. I don't understand why he said what he did. He made it sound like I was hooking up with the entire baseball team and that hurt me more than anything. Well, almost anything. Paxton not believing me hurt too. I thought he would know me better than that, but I guess it was all wishful thinking on my part.
"What the fuck is your problem?" I finally muster up the courage to ask. "You think you're hot shit because you can come in and ruin something like that? Well congratulations to you, you're officially a dick."
I don't know where this was all coming from, I was usually so much more professional towards people, but I guess since I was looking forward to having an orgasm that didn't need assistance from something battery operated, I was feeling a little on edge.
"You're so cute when you're mad. I did you a favor, you should be thanking me." He says, not breaking eye contact with his phone.
"Excuse me? Thanking you? For what? For stopping the only action that I've gotten in months? Or for making the only decent guy I've met in a long time think that I was a cheap whore? Because both of these options seem a little far fetched from my point of view."
He puts his phone in his pocket and turns to face me slowly. His eyes look me up and down, stopping on my waist and my boobs before finally landing on my face. He doesn't say anything, just casually smiles and chuckles to himself.
"Are you going to say anything? Or just stare at me like I'm a painting or something." I spit out behind a clenched jaw.
"Paxton isn't good for you. Don't waste your time on him."
"Oh? And how would you have any idea what's good for me? You don't even know me."
"I know your type baby doll. You're going to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of this world and before you know it, it will spit you out like nothing."
I had no idea how to react. He was insulting me, my relationship...well not relationship of sorts...with Paxton and my ability to focus on the team all in one. I was dumbfounded.
"Sweet girls like you come in here and act like they won't let the first guy that gives them attention get to their head, but as soon as they're here then BAM. They're putty in his hands. Exactly how things were between me, you and Paxxy here." He says while looking behind me.
I turn to find Paxton standing there. His gear is still on his shoulder and he looks enraged. His arms are crossed and his brow is furrowed.
"See, I had a feeling that you were just being a dick. Guess I was right."
"Ah, mister knight in shining armour. Nice to see that you came back for the princess," Jonathan rolls his eyes and leans back against the wall. "She was just about to leave anyway. So don't worry about us."
What the hell was going on? I knew these two didn't like each other but they were acting like they were mortal enemies. The heat radiating off both of their bodies could be felt be anyone in that hallway, nevermind me who was only about three feet away from them both. I looked between the two of them and could see pure hate in their eyes.
"Are you two going to whip your dicks out and compare notes or can I leave?"
Paxton starts to laugh, a beautiful smile forming on his mouth.
"Jesus, Olivia. You need to read the room," He says while starting to walk away, the smile still lingering softly on his gorgeous face. He looks toward the backdoor of the building and then stops abruptly. "Are you coming?" You can see his muscles through his blue button-up shirt as he folds his arms across his chest, looking in my direction.
Well not in the way I wanted. But I suppose beggars can't be choosers.
And I turn to follow him, leaving Jonathan smirking at us.
What could have possibly happened with them? I need to find out.
And fast.
