The sun barley peaked through the curtains as Maven slowly but surely woke up from a restless nights sleep. His hand immediately shot to the side of his bed, only to find that it was empty.
He groaned. Thomas must have already started his shift.
Maven got up, quickly throwing on some pants as he crept open to the door and cracked it open.
Sure enough, there Thomas stood, in full uniform, looking practically perfect. Maven reached his hand through the crack, grabbed hold of his jacket, and pulled him inside. Thomas didn't have any time to protest before mavens lips came crashing into his. They stood like that for quite a while, enjoying each other's warmth, before they had to pull away for air.
"Well. Good morning." Thomas breathed.
"You know" maven started "I didn't like this whole plan at first, having you so close to me and all, but now I'm starting to like it." he said with a smirk.
Thomas rolled his eyes before pecking mavens lips once again.
"Sure lover boy. But I have to get back out there. You're mother will be coming any second."
Maven froze. "Excuse me?"
"Your mothers adviser said you two had a meeting. Something about Marena? She'll be here at 6:00."
Maven looked at the clock. 5:33. Shit.
He looked back at Thomas with wide eyes.
"You have to go. Now."
"Yes that's what's I'm-"
He couldn't even finish his sentence before he was pushed out the door, right back into the spot he had been only a few minutes ago.
Meanwhile, back in the room, maven was panicking.
He had 28, scratch that 27, to completely clear his head of any possibly risky thoughts. He had to get Thomas out of there, and fast. After all these years maven had gotten good at hiding, but it still took time, time he barley had.
He rushed to get ready as he washed all of the thoughts from his head. No more Thomas, no more love, no more warmth, no more thinking.
Soon enough, he was good to go, practically a blank canvas for whatever his mother had planned for him today.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. He straightened his jacket one more time before opening it.
"Maven my love, we have much to talk about today." She said with an evil look to her face.
"Yes, of course mother." Maven said as blank as possible. He shut his door behind him and began to walk away, shooting a bitter glare at the red solider stationed at his door.
