It was just Wysteria's shitty luck that her locker door wouldn't open. She had been struggling with the combination for ten minutes now, carefully inputting all the numbers but every time she pulled on the handle, nothing happened. Wysteria tried not to groan as other students around her slowly began to disperse. She couldn't exactly ask someone to help her right? That would be super lame, especially on her first day. Wysteria bit her lip and  looked at the combination in front of her again.

"Alright." she whispered to herself. "One last time and if this doesn't work... I should just go home." Although, if she ditched class, Wysteria was worried she would upset her mother. Besides, where would she go? What was there to do on the Reservation if you didn't have a car? Wysteria took a deep breath and dialed out the numbers again. This time as she reached for the handle though, she was startled to see an arm reach out in front of her and slam their fist a little forcefully into the center of the locker. Wysteria jumped in surprise as the locker slowly rattled open.

Turning around Wysteria found a guy, with short cropped hair and kind brown eyes. He was smirking a little at her and Wysteria felt a little uncomfortable having him stare down at her. He was clearly older than her and almost tall enough that if he put his hand up, he could probably touch the ceiling of the school. "I uhh... thanks?" Wysteria said, unsure of what to say to him.

"No problem." Wysteria was surprised by how deep his voice was. "I had that locker as a freshman and it was a pain in the ass. It would only open when you hit it just right."

"Oh well... Noted, thanks." The boy nodded, still smiling a little.

"You're welcome. See you around Wysteria." Wysteria was turning back to her locker when she realized suddenly that the guy had known her name. She turned to look at him but he was already rounding a corner and disappearing down a different hall. Wysteria would have felt a little unsettled that some complete stranger knew her name but... Then again, if all her mother, grandmother and Aunt could talk about was how Wysteria Redbird was coming home after a decade of being away, then Wysteria would probably have to get used to random people calling her by her name.
