// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
3,000 years in the past Ancient Egypt. A nameless Pharaoh ruled. He had defeated the great evil that had plagued his land but at a great cost. He knew the shadows would catch up to him and he would not be fit to rule. For this reason he had entrusted his throne to his Priest Seth; It was all a matter of time now before it was to pass. Atem sat in his room, looking in a reflective bowl of water. Ever since the incident he had noticed he had slight differences in His appearance, he had found his teeth to be sharper which worried him. He did his best to hide them but soon something would not be as easy to hide.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
Seto Kaiba sat on the throne that was now his, watching his disciples attend to their task. It was a hot day....now that he thought about it the past week has been hotter than normal....normal, he smiled softly to himself thinking that this was normal, but it made him remember the times when things weren't so normal and the man that caused it, the man who used to sit in this very throne, rule these very lands...the Pharaoh...Atem, he whispered. One of his servants called out to him. "Pharaoh?" pulling him out of his memories. "What?" He snapped making him jump. "Uh, dinner is ready your highness." the Servant replied with a bowed head. "I'll be there in a minute." He replied; the Servant bowed once again then scurried off, Kaiba allowed himself one last thought of the former Pharaoh before heading off to dinner.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
It was about time for dinner, and unfortunately the new Pharaoh had decided that he had to sit with Him; Of course he depended on His mood if he was allowed to sit at the table. It was humiliating. This was not what he had intended; Ever since these things started happening he had to step down from his throne. He stretched and walked down to the area dinner was being served. His once purple eye's now turned red gazed at his once subjects, most of them avoided eye contact now. His only friend was Mana now and She was off practicing her mage magic. He sighed and entered the dinner hall. His graze burning as he caught sight of Kaiba. He didn't know what he did to get himself in that position but for once Kaiba pretty much ran his life now, and he could do nothing about it.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
Kaiba was sat at the head of the table when he saw the Pharaoh walk into the room He seemed to be upset about upset about having to come to dinner. This amused Kaiba, it wasn't often that he got to see Atem in such a ruffled manner.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
Atem stood there with his arms folded, "Do I get to sit at the table or are you going to be a jerk as usual?" He snapped. He hated this, it was absolutely humiliating.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
Kaiba smirked and leaned back in his chair while simultaneously directing his arm towards Atem's chair and said, "Have a seat." Kaiba loved seeing Atem's burning eye's this close up; Ever since Kaiba became Pharaoh Atem started to avoid Him. "Which is just down right childish!" He thought but he did miss their duels and his long winded speeches during them.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
He did what he was told, glaring all the while. "So how is the Kingdom?" He hissed though his sharp teeth.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
Kaiba was still smirking. You could tell he was amused by Atem's displeasure, "The Kingdom is going well." He replied.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"Don't look so smug, if I hadn't given this Kingdom to Seth you wouldn't be in this situation. I have no clue how you got to this time and replaced him either but you don't have to flaunt it" He said picking at his food.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
"The wonders of technology, (He said while spreading his arms out before him.) It's amazing what you can do with it. And you should have chosen a better successor then that pathetic excuse for a Priest."
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"He is basically you just not an ass hat!" He hissed. "You still haven't given me a straight answer, what did you do with him."
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
"Hmph, he is nothing like me." Kaiba scoffed, "And he ran away, like the useless coward he his."
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"Tch, then why keep me around? What use am I to you? A former Pharaoh....turning monster." he said stabbing at his food.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
"Because you are the only one here who's worth my time." He replied.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"And how is that?!" He yelled.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
Kaiba chuckled at his out burst. "How? Because I respect you, you were the first person to beat me in a duel..." He said softly while he looked down at his plate.
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"Right so that is why you imprisoned me in my own home." He said not picking up on the feelings He was trying to show.
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
"I never imprisoned you, you are free to leave but I would prefer it if you stayed, I must admit I enjoy your company."
// Sleepless/Atem's POV //
"You enjoy my company? he asked, now just confused. "How?"
// Mine/Kaiba's POV //
"How? What do you mean how. Is it so hard to believe that I could enjoy your company?" Kaiba inquired.
//Sleepless/Atem's POV //
His jaw dropped, He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "I was convinced you hated me, when did all this start?"
// Mine/Kaiba POV //
Kaiba looked Atem in the eyes and said, "I never hated you Atem, I have been frustrated with you, but I never hated you. You challenged me; it was infuriating to lose to you over and over again but I learned a lot from it, you made me grow and because of that growth it caused me to want to challenge you, I enjoyed our duels even though I lost all of them...I enjoyed them." Kaiba said in a soft voice.
