Finally, after long hours of playing tag, Tourmaline left to answer the rapping of a door. Without speaking she opened it, and Amber shivered under the cold glare of Shimmerwings when she entered the room.

She wasn't the only dragon that came. The second surprised her far more than the first. A Northern Lights dragon.

"Hold on, if we were just coming here to play tag, why did we skip school?" Faith asked. "We saw Shimmerwings at school. Where was she?"

"Shimmerwings was at school because I didn't need her to get a certain phoenix everyone thinks killed Eel out of that place." Tourmaline said. Coral, Amber, Shimmerwings, and the northern lights dragon all looked at Faith. Even Opal and Hope looked at her.

"Well, what's with Mr. Mysterious over there?" Coral asked, pointing at the northern lights dragon.

"This is my friend, Borealis. Prince Borealis." Shimmerwings said. Awkward silence followed.

"You may applaud the prince," Shimmerwings said, rolling her eyes. No one clapped or whistled.

"Whatever." Tourmaline said. "Okay, let's get down to business. You all know why I chose you, but not anyone else. Faith, let's start with you. Why do you think you're here?"

"Because everyone thinks I killed Eel." Faith growled. "And you guys need to 'get me out of the country', you already told me!"

  "Alright. Coral, your turn."

"I'm here because of my necklace," Coral said. Amber gave her a questioning look, and she rolled her eyes like Shimmerwings. "Whenever I want, I can kind of go into the necklace, and someone else can wear it. I have a home there, and I can make anything I want to appear. I can see outside, but no one can see me. Oh, and it glows when I want to come out."

  "Shimmerwings?"

"Can I just show you?" Shimmerwings said rudely. She didn't wait for an answer, her rainbow scales shimmered, and she dissolved into nothing. "Color-changing scales." She said, returning to normal.

  "Prince Borealis?"

"Because I'm a prince?" Borealis said.

  Tourmaline shook her head.

"Because I can change into and look like any dragon?"

  Tourmaline nodded.

"Hope and Opal are here because it won't be safe for them. They're too little." Tourmaline said. Everyone looked expectantly at Amber.

"I might... I might be..." Amber looked hopelessly at Tourmaline.

"I guess we'll find out tonight. Anyone want to show why I chose you? Besides Shimmerwings, of course." Tourmaline asked. Borealis stepped forward.

"I will," He said. He stared at the ground and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. Unlike Shimmerwings, who turned invisible in milliseconds, Borealis took about ten seconds before his scales finally stopped changing color. And, instead of a black and white-speckled northern lights dragon, he was Amber.

Amber was staring right into the eyes of herself. Amber had never seen her own eyes before. They were a beautiful blue, almost like the jewel on her brother's bracelet, except brighter. And for the first time, she noticed Faith's eyes. Bright, fiery orange. Coral's were a dark blue, and Shimmerwings' were green. Tourmaline's were blue as well.

The scales around Borealis-Amber's belly were white, and they were a light orange for a single row, before flaring into a bright, colorful orange.

Borealis turned back. Amber had only just realized her gaping jaw. Borealis flashed her an apologetic glance. "Sorry." He mumbled.

"Can I have a go?" Coral asked. She was no longer the dragon who had lost her brother the day before. Tourmaline nodded, and Coral clutched the piece of coral on her necklace. She closed her eyes, and, in a puff of smoke, she was gone. Then, the coral piece flew into the air and landed back on Coral.

"Are you hungry?" Tourmaline asked. Amber's stomach growled in response. Tourmaline smiled and opened the door. "I want you guys to learn everything you can. There are lots of books." Tourmaline said, smiling once more at the tower bookshelves. She walked out and shut the door behind her.

Amber immediately went to the bookshelves labeled Curse of the Skies. She pulled one out and blew the dust off of it. The cover read A History of Cursed Dragons. Amber made her way to one of the beds. She sat down on it, and Coral sat on the other one. Faith and Hope sat on the other two beds next to each other, and Borealis and Shimmerwings sat on the ones across from the door.

  A History of Cursed Dragons
  Chapter one, The Cursed

 Many are aware of the cursed dragons. Though, only one lives. The others died protecting their king or queen during their time in the castle. All known Cursed dragons younger than the only living one are;

  Rainfall Cursed. Deceased.

  Shadowstone Cursed. Deceased

  Tiger's Eye Cursed. Deceased.

  Flowerstone Cursed. Deceased.

  Moonstone Cursed. Deceased.

The list went on. Tourmaline came with snacks, and as she ate, Amber read and read, reading about every Cursed dragon there ever was. Biographies, autobiographies, stories, myths. Finally, she stopped, staring blankly at the page.

  Legend of the Cursed.

  The night that the moon
is as bright as the sun,
Someone who can see past lies
  Will finally come.

  She will find truth,
  Protect the weak.
She will save the Sky Lands
  When all is bleak.

  When one has fallen,
  Blistered and burned,
  They will complete their journey,
  They will return.

  If hope is lost,
  She will still fly.
She will fight, she will defend
For the land of the skies.
