Chapter 2: "The Front Door"

A powerful knock came to the door to disturb the serenity of your apartment and your sleep too. You groaned as you sat up and scratched your head, looking around and feeling disoriented. The feeling reminded you of when you were a kid and used to fall asleep on the couch, just to wake up in your bed, not knowing how you got there.

Your apartment was dark and it took you a while to figure out that you slept through most (if not all) of the afternoon.

Another knock came to the door, this time quieter, making you stand up. You stumbled a bit but managed to collect yourself, and not knowing how you didn't hit yourself with something, you finally got to the door.

"Who is it?" you asked, your voice raspier than normal due to your recent awakening.

"It's me, Jun! From 202B!" the unknown voice presented itself from the outside.

Even though you felt like you had the puffiest face in the world, you opened the door after letting out a sigh and peeked through it, still trying to hide behind it. The string of light that came in made you close your eyes in discomfort.

He covered his mouth in disbelief when he saw you. "Oh, god. I'm so sorry. I woke you up." He nervously apologized.

You didn't react, you just kept staring at him with expectation. "It's okay." It suddenly came to you that in just a few hours of knowing him, you had already said that twice to him.

"So, um," he calmed down once you reassured him, not looking at you and seeming embarrassed. "I was wondering if you could help me out with the front door? My intercom doesn't work and I lost my key to it and all the neighbors I know are out." He finally expressed, and you noticed he talked a lot with his hands.

You nodded and stretched out to press the door button on your intercom. A loud buzzing noise came from the end of the hallway, and Jun thanked you before running towards the door.

You got curious so you peeked the entirety of your head outside your apartment door and into the hallway, just to see your neighbor's tall figure accompanied by a pizza delivery man. The exchange was fast so he quickly made his way toward the staircase, but stopped himself and ran towards your apartment door with three pizza boxes in his hand. You rapidly hid behind your door again.

"Would you like to join us?" he asked. Even though the distances between your door and the front door and the stairs weren't long, his breath was agitated from moving so fast. He smirked and looked down at the boxes. "It's pepperoni." He wiggled his eyebrows with excitement.

You couldn't help but giggle, looking up at him with a doubtful expression on your face. "I think I'll pass." You puckered the bridge of your nose, thinking about your appearance and feeling embarrassed from looking so deranged. "But thank you though—for inviting me." You smiled, nodding politely.

"Ah—it's okay. You must be tired." Understanding, he grinned. "Have a good night..." and the tone of his voice implied a question within it, something like 'what's your name?'

"Y/N." You clarified and laughed quietly.

"Jun." He pointed towards himself and laughed too, nodding. It was at that moment when you noted that you hadn't seen his eyes until then. He had a gracious, bright sight, almost full of joy, but he also looked like he could intimidate very easily with it if he wanted to.

"Have a good night too." You said, he nodded again and began walking away as you started closing your door.

The comforting smell of pizza suddenly made you hungry, but as you shook your head you decided to eat leftovers from lunch, take a shower, and resume your resting until the next morning.
