Chapter 3: Great Neighbor
A few days had passed and you were finally done with unpacking. The walls weren't white and boring anymore since you had your wall art decorating them. A sigh of relieve escaped your lips as you sat on the couch, looking around. You still wanted to add some plants here and there, but you were happy with the results anyway.
You didn't know how you managed to get so much stuff in the year you had been living alone. When you first moved out of your parent's home you only had your bed, your desk, and some books that you had already read so you used as a nightstand. You then decided to sell them since you'd rather use the money. But other than that, everything you owned you managed to get in a year, and this was only your second apartment in that span of time. You suddenly got excited about what this place could bring into your life and all the memories that are waiting for you to conceive.
Since you were busy tidying up your apartment, you still hadn't had time to explore the neighborhood. You thought that now would be a good time since you still had a couple of days off from work. So you cleaned up and headed outside, locking your apartment door behind you. As soon as you stepped out you saw a familiar figure checking their mailbox. It was Jun, and he looked confused, reading what looked like a letter in his hands.
"Good morning." You said in a low tone to avoid startling him as you walked past him.
Almost immediately, Jun turned around, looking disoriented. "Good morning." He nodded towards you, and before you could open the front door, he stopped you.
"Hey," a few seconds went by and you could tell the look in your face had changed abruptly by the way he looked at you next. "Sorry, I didn't mean to—"
"No, it's okay." You cut him off.
He chuckled as he looked down and you could tell by the sudden pink color that rushed to his cheeks that he felt embarrassed. "I should stop bothering you so much—"
"You're not, really. It's okay."
Before he continued, he closed his eyes and sighed. "Uh—are you heading somewhere right now?"
"No, not really. I was just going to take a look around the neighborhood." You explained, pointing your index finger over your shoulder.
"Oh, I see." He nodded. Clearing his throat a bit he then asked. "Would you help me with something?"
"Sure! What is it?" the awkward encounter was starting to take a toll on you, and you were almost wishing it would just end.
"I uh—need to make a copy of the front door key and I can't seem to get ahold of my landlord. Would you lend me yours?" he finally asked.
"Of course!" you immediately started to unscrew the key to the front door from your key chain.
"Thank you, Y/N." He sighed in what looked like relief. "I'll go do that right now." He notified and you smirked, still unscrewing. "When you come back you can ring my intercom. I just got it fixed."
"Here." You finally lent him the key and he took it from your hand.
"Thank you again. You're such a good neighbor."
You couldn't help but laugh out loud at his remark. "No worries." You shook your head in response, finally heading out and leaving him alone in the entry lobby.
