Screaming

Why can I hear you scream?

In anger,
as chaos bares its teeth,
shrieking at me
through your unhinged jaws.

In sadness,
filled with despair,
a longing for peace,
a sorrow without cause.

In terror,
ripping through you,
tearing through flesh and bone,
as you stare at fear's maw.

Please,
lower your voice.
I don't want to hear this.
