The doctor asked my details and gave me a hospital wristband. "Could you show me your back please?" I hesitated. "Would you like your boyfriend to leave?" She looked at Ryan. He stood up and left the room and went back into the waiting area I assumed. I took my shirt off to show her my back. "Your boyfriend is nice for bringing you here, this could've been serious" I laughed awkwardly.
"He isn't my boyfriend..." I felt her embarrassment.
"We're going to send you over to x-ray, just to double check, but I think it's just bruised" She said. I nodded putting my shirt back on. I thanked her and walked back out to Ryan.
"Everything okay?" He said.
"Yeah, I've gotta go over to x-ray, but she thinks it's just bruising," I said. "You don't have to stay you know, I'm sure you've got better boy band type things to do." He laughed.
"I don't actually," He smiled showing off all his teeth. "So, I guess you're stuck with me." I laughed.
"You're going to regret this," I smiled. "Now we need to go to x-rays." I put my slip in the tray and sat down in the rigid seats. The pain was slowly subsiding; however the uncomfortable hospital chairs weren't helping. We sat in silence for a moment.
"I never introduced myself properly," Ryan held his hand out. "I'm Ryan, Ryan Fletcher" He smiled.
"I'm Lucy, Lucy Baker." I took his hand and we shook hands.
"So, Lucy, what do you do for a living?" I rolled my eyes, but smiled. He was asking such cliché first meeting questions.
"I work in a diner and I'm at University, what about you Ryan?" I would play along with his interrogation.
"I'm the bassist in a little band, maybe you've heard of us, we're called Lawson?" I laughed.
"As a matter-of-fact, I have heard of you." He raised his eyebrows at me, as if to know my opinion of them. "Big fan, big fan" He laughed.
"What are you studying at Uni?" He looked interested, but I knew once I told him he would soon get bored.
"I'm studying English; I want to be a secondary school English teacher." It sounded dead boring, I know, but he did ask.
"Interesting..."
"Not really." I shrugged. Then my name was called. I turned to face the doctor at the end of the corridor.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Ryan said. I nodded. We both stood up and made our way to the x-ray room. I was told to lie down. Then the female doctor came back in. She smiled at me.
"I won't make you take your top off again." She laughed. I smiled, but I was in no mood to laugh. She pulled the back of my top up, and then adjusted the machine. I turned my head and looked at Ryan. He pulled a stupid face at me. I smiled and tried to stifle my laugh. It was crazy; I didn't know him 2 hours ago, now we were kind of friends. Well, I was just glad for him to be here with me. "Okay, your back is fine, well not completely, it's just bruised very badly, so you'll have to take it easy for a few days, but there's not permanent damage." She said. I stood up and pulled my top down. "However, we're going to give you some painkillers, take them twice a day, once in the morning once in the evening with food." I nodded as she handed me a box of tablets.
"Thank you." was the last thing I said before leaving. When we both got into Ryan's car. I turned to him. "Thank you for this." I smiled at him. Ryan returned the gesture.
"You're more than welcome, how did you actually fall over?" I sighed.
"Well, I went to turn around and talk to Dakota, and I tripped over my own foot. It wasn't the smartest idea being the clumsiest person ever and working on roller skates" I sighed. Ryan laughed.
"Nice one." He said sarcastically. I shook my head.
"Apparently you were asking for my services today." I smirked. Ryan shifted in his seat.
"I want to maintain one waitress wherever I go to eat, I could become a local, but I was told that was never your section and never has been." Now it was my turn to shift in my seat. I laughed awkwardly.
"Haha, well, I made my friend let me serve you guys.." I laughed a little, it sounded so childish. "Like I said, big fan." I smiled.
"We're doing a gig tonight, if you're feeling up for it, you should come, we'll probably go out for drinks and stuff after, you're welcome to join us too. You can even bring a mate if you want." I knew exactly who to bring, Bobbi.
"That sounds great, just say to the guys at the doors your name and they should let you in."
"I feel like a VIP or something." I laughed. We pulled into the diner car park. "Thank you again for taking me to the hospital and staying with me."
"It's the least I could do," He laughed, I furrowed my eyebrows at him. "You still have no shoes on." I laughed again.
"I didn't bring shoes, they're in my car." I shrugged.
"I guess I'll see you later." Ryan said as I got out of the car. I bent down to look through the doorway.
"I guess you will." I shut the door and walked into the diner, where I was interrogated by everyone. I assured them that everything was alright. Jackie told me I could have the rest of the day. I now needed to go and find Bobbi and tell her over tonight’s events. She probably wouldn't even believe me.
I’m going to a Lawson gig, I was invited my Ryan Fletcher from Lawson, then afterwards I’m going to go for drink with all of the members of Lawson. What a strange turn of events.
