Lia's Pov
,,Dear Diary,
I told you this already but just a quick revision of what had happened. In October 1988, a young boy named Georgie Denbrough went missing. His family was devastated and looked everywhere for him. The police helped to look for him. But the boy was never found. He was said to be dead and the only person who did not want to believe this, was his brother, Bill. How I knew this? I don't even know and I don't even know him. All I know is that my brother likes to bully Bill and his friends. I never understood Henry. At home, he was so different. Maybe it was just me who couldn't see the real nature of my brother. Or maybe I..."
I mumbled to myself and writing it down, as my door opened.,,Hey, Brat. What're you up to?",my lovely brother asked and walked over to my bed. I quickly closed my diary because I did not want my brother to read what I had written. Then, I turned around.,,Nothing much. What do you want?",I replied, looking at my brother who was sitting on my bed.,,Thought about hanging out with the boys. Grabbing something to eat on the way.",he told me. I furrowed my brows together. What was he up to now?,,Ok... As long as you're home before the curfew, everything should be fine.",I meant and crossed my arms in front of my chest.,,Just wanted to know if you would like to join us.",Henry said. I raised a brow.,,You want me to hang out with you and the boys?",I repeated to make sure that I had heard right. Henry nodded slightly. That was nothing new but sometimes Henry didn't want me to be with him and his friends. He could be quite protective of me.,,Only if you want to.",he added.,,I don't know. You know how I feel about them and what you're doing.",I told him honestly. I hated what my brother and his group of psychotic gorillas did. However, Henry never listened to me when I told him to stop.,,Oh c'mon. We won't do anything stupid. Besides, you'd be home alone. What would you do here?",he said and I couldn't quite tell if he really meant the first part. I sighed.,,You don't want me to be alone, right?",I asked and eyed him. Henry breathed out but didn't say anything. I stood up and walked over to my wardrobe.,,Ok. I'll come with you if you promise me not to do anything stupid.",I meant, turning my head to look at him. Henry smirked and nodded.,,Good. Now go, I have to change.",I meant and threw one of my shirts at him. Henry chuckled and walked out of my room. Then I got ready (outfit: picture above)...
20 minutes later
The Bowers Gang and I arrived in town a few minutes ago. I could already tell that the boys were ready to look for their next victim and that was something that frightened me all the time. Henry was very different when with his friends, than him being alone with me at home. Of course he would protect me nonetheless but his methods weren't great.,,Hey guys, would it be ok if I go to the library?",I asked them, looking at my brother.,,Just come back here when you're finished.",Henry replied and I nodded, already getting out of the car.,,If we're not here, you still come here, got it?",Henry added as I closed the door.,,Got it. Have fun!",I said before heading to the library. Yes, I was relieved that I was not with my brother right now. Why? His friends, ok more like Patrick scared the shit out of me. He was just really scary and weird. And was always trying to get into someone's pants, mine especially because he thought it was funny how Henry reacted. I thought it was just annoying and he scared me too much.
Anyways, I was entering the library and a smile formed on my face. I loved reading and writing things. Maybe I would become a writer some day... I shook my head and headed for the shelves. Was I looking for a particular book? Not really. I just wanted to read something. As I was walking closer to the shelves, I saw a brown haired boy. Had I seen him before? No. I was normally one of the only children here who cared to read a book.,,Wasn't he the new kid?",I asked myself as my curiosity rose. That was why I casually walked up to him.
When I stood next to him, I started to look at the spine's of the books. Who knew what books were here? Not me. But they seemed pretty interesting. They were history books. One particular book took my attention.,,History of Derry.",I mumbled and reached out for it. However, another hand did the same and our hands touched. I turned my head to the right and looked at the boy.,,Sorry.",he apologized. I showed him a small smile.,,Don't apologize. You wanna read that book?",I inquired, trying to start a conversation. The boy nodded.,,But you can read it. I can find a different book.",he replied and wanted to walk away.,,Wait! We can read it together, if you want to.",I suggested and pulled out the book. The boy eyed be first and than smiled a little.,,Yeah. That'd be nice.",he said and the two of was walked over to the nearest table to sit down.,,I'm Lia by the way. You're the new kid, right?",I introduced myself as I sat down next to him.,,Yeah, I'm Ben.",he meant.,,Well, Ben. It's nice to meet you.",I replied with a smile. He returned it and opened the book. The two of us started to read about the history of this town and talked every now and then. It seemed as if Ben already knew a lot about the history of Derry which surprised me a little but he seemed like a nice guy. And maybe I would finally have found a friend...
In the evening
Henry and I had arrived at home an hour ago. He seemed tense and our father wasn't even here. I decided not to talk to him about whatever that was going on. It was probably something I didn't want to know. So, I had headed into my room and changed into my pyjama. Now, I started to write a song. Yes, I wrote songs and poems. Always thought it was interesting. It intrigued me, just like the history of Derry. That made me think of today. While Henry had been doing god knows what with his gorillas, I had been reading a few books about Derry's history with a boy named Ben. As I thought about it, I put away my notebook with my poems and songs before I grabbed my diary. I wrote everything that was on my mind in it. It helped me remember or relive a few things. So, I grabbed my pen and opened the diary. Then I mumbled what I would write down:
,,Dear Diary,
I know that I had written today already but I wanted to give you an update. Henry had taken me with him to hang out with him and his friends. But I was at the library because I had to get away from Patrick. He scared me and tried to flirt with me, again. It really annoyed me and Henry was pissed of whenever Patrick did that.
As I was saying, I went to the library and met the new kid. His name is Ben Hanscom and he seems like a really nice guy and very smart too. He knows a lot about the history of Derry which surprised me. Maybe we could be friends. Of course I knew Bev but I don't know if I could call us friends. I mean, we hung out sometimes but that was it.
Anyways, I didn't tell Ben who my brother was though. Why should I, right? Henry would do horrible things to Ben if he knew that I hung out with him. Or what if Ben found out who my brother was? Everyone left after finding out who I was related with. It sucked being Henry Bowers' little sister. Everybody feared him and his friends which was why I was always alone. I hope that it will be different this time. But I'll have to wait and see.
Tell you more soon. Promise!
Lia"
