-At Wendy's Workplace (aka The Mystery Shack)-
You paced along the beaten path in the dense forest that just got off the interstate. You and Morgan had raced, and she beat you. And in all honesty, she would have. Morgan's on track and you... You play (f/sport), so you can't complain.
"(Y/N)!!" An out of breath voice cried right before you collapsed onto it. Morgan tried to stop you, but you were on a roll. You got up, brushed your self off, and helped up Morgan.
"Sorry, Morg. I've just been... Really lost in thought lately.." You muttered.
Morgan sighed, but accepted your apology. The two of you walked inside the old door of the gift shop.
"Hey you two!" Wendy appeared from behind the counter. Wendy was a junior this year, so she was younger than you and Morgan, but you still hung with the underclassman.
"Hey, Wendy. How's the Working Man's life?" You asked jokingly.
"Terrible. By the way, I have someone I want you two to meet." Wendy smiled, walking past the forbidden 'Employees Only' door. She came back out with two brunette children, not above the age of 13.
"Oh. Are you babysitting them?" Morgan asked, looking slightly displeased.
You looked at them a mixture of shock and awe. Something was triggering your senses, and it had something to do with these two. The little boy noticed your stare and let off a nervous blush. You realized what you were doing and smiled awkwardly.
"OMIGOD, DIPSTICK, SHE'S AS AWKWARD AS YOU!!" The girl teased him, nudging him. He pushed her back and they laughed.
Wendy laughed. "This is Mabel and Dipper, our very own.... Drumroll please..?" You started beating on the counter, "Mystery Twins!" Wendy was snickered. Dipper mad blush. Mabel was snickering like hell.
Dipper, you have a thing for Wendy, don'tcha? You giggled to yourself.
Morgan looked over at you like you were crazy. Then looked back at the children, utterly disappointed.
"Mabel, Dipper, this is (Y/N) and Morgan, my Senior friends!" Wendy said, rather proud.
"Hi!!" Mabel practically screamed.
"Hey..." Dipper was barely over a whisper, not to mention his slight -who am I kidding it was very noticeable- voice crack.
"Mhm." Morgan deadpanned, staring into her phone.
You took an interest in them, unlike your Colleagues would have.
Maybe it was that babysitting job a few years ago. You felt so bad for that woman. Ten kids and one coming... The majority being girls. There was only one boy. The Loud's were a crazy bunch. It must be hell for those two parents, but back to this universe.
"I'm (Y/N), It's nice to meet you two!" You smiled. Mabel smiled brightly. Dipper gave a small, quicker, yet sincere smile.
You could tell by the way they made parts of the room feel, how they acted.
Dipper was studious, curious, and over all, a nervous wreck. Maybe you could tame that, with Mabel's help, of course. He's rather relatable, in a way.
Mabel was fun, exciting, and really, really loud. She always brought enthusiasm everywhere. A good quality. She could be a very good support system for her more socially awkward brother.
Mabel shot up. "Wanna hear about the Gnomes and the Leafblowers?" She asked, a wide smile splayed across her face.
You perked up. "The... Gnomes and the Leafblowers..?"
"Yeah, silly!" She said it like it was the most obvious thing. Like this story was ledgend.
"Shoot. I'm interested." You said, sitting criss-crossed on the floor. She smiled, pulling her brother from looking at a jar of eyeballs. You looked at the twins in absolute wonder as she gave a dramatic story entrance.
"It was a dark and stormy night-"
"No, it was around 3:00, spotless first day, Mabel," Dipper snapped. "if you're gonna tell her a story, tell it right."
"You're such a donkey." Mabel growled. Dipper pushed her.
"Fine then. I'll tell her."
"No!!! I'll tell it right!"
Time skip because Author-chan is lazy
"Wow." You breathed. That was an entertaining story.
"Dipper has this weird journal, too! We use it to help with our adv-"
"Mabel! We don't know if we can trust her!" Dipper whispered, slapping a hand over her mouth. She licked his hand.
"I happen to trust her! She's a very kind person.. I think." Mabel fired back.
A small figure appeared out of your peripheral vision. It was a young boy, his back to you. His shaggy hair tickled the back of his head. He was wearing a suit, but it was bloodied. You could hear his broken sniffles. You felt the urge to go sit with him.
"(Y/N)? You listening?" Dipper said, holding up a journal, red and torn with a golden six-fingered hand.
"Wha-? Sorry, I saw something.." you glanced over at the little boy, and back at Dipper.
"What did you see..?" Dipper asked, his face curiously softening. Mabel looked confused.
"Nothing... I-I don't wanna get you wrapped up in this." You proceeded to walk over to the little boy. Dipper watched you, whispering something under his breath. Mabel walked off, grumbling something about weird people.
"Hello..?" You whispered. The boy stopped sniffling but didn't look up. "Are you alright..?"
"Addison..." He whispered. As you got closer, you saw what appeared to be a gunshot through his abdomen.
"Addison?"
"I killed her... I never should have let it in.."
"Let what in?" You saw carvings in his arms, the sleeves of his suit were shredded. His eyes were empty, black sockets. You kneeled next to him. He didn't look older than 14.
He was silent. He sniffed heavily, a low growl came from his throat. Dipper seemed to have heard it, because he had jumped up. The little boy's bones cracked and lengthened until he was a tall, shadowy figure. His skin was ashy, and his sockets leaked an inky substance. His fingers grew long, bony, and sharp. They darkened and dripped the ink.
