Glaring at the window, Todoroki resolutley ignored the obnoxiously loud noises coming from his classmates. He wasn't quite sure what had happened, as he'd been asleep for most of it, but someone had managed to poke Bakugou into another one of his explosive rants. Of course, sprinkled with curse words and sparks flying from his palms. But Todoroki wasn't paying much attention. He did not want to have any part of whatever was happening.

He just wanted to sleep, honestly. Things at home had been surprisingly quiet since All Might's visit. And, in many ways, that was worse than the angry, brutal reaction from his father that he'd expected. Rather, the man had been quiet, tense. The calm before the storm. And Todoroki really didn't want that storm to come. So, with the tense atmosphere at home, sleep refused to come.

Honestly, how the hell was Aizawa-sensei sleeping through all of this?

After seemingly hours, (but was probably less than one,) they arrived at their destination. Or rather, were stranded at the mouth of a forest.

The students quickly figured out that, in order to reach the training camp, they'd have to fight their way to it. Sighing, Todoroki quickly jumped into the battle.

This was going to be a long day.

The next several days passed in the same manner of intensity. Todoroki continually freezing and then steaming water that surrounded him, to the point of near exhaustion. Though, his classmates didn't have it any easier. Uraraka spoke of having to float constantly, while training how much she could lift. Momo ate and produced more items than she could remember, alongside Sato. The classes' only reprieve seemed to be in the evenings over dinner. Todoroki enjoyed those evenings, especially when he lit the fire. It was nice to be able to see that that half of his quirk could be used for something so simple, so helpful.

If Endeavor could see him now. Todoroki couldn't help but chuckle at the thought.

The next night, the students were especially excited, despite how tired everyone clearly was. With the competitive streak that so many of them had, the planned "test of courage" was enough to wake them up.

Being paired with Bakugou, though, was less than ideal. Especially considering that the two hadn't interacted since the blonde's aggressive questioning. But Todoroki would handle it, given that he didn't have a choice.

It was about halfway through the path they'd been told to take that they realized something was wrong.

There was smoke coming from further inside the forest.

Midoriya had to keep from rolling his eyes. If Toga complained one more time, he'd gladly stab her in the back, stupid analogies be damned.

The Vangaurd Action Squad, as the eight of them had been named, stood atop the mountain overlooking the training camp. Midoriya could see the logic behind having the training take place in such an isolated place, but it was a double edged sword, as the UA students were about to find out. Yes, it worked well for anonymity, and a good place for the students to go all out. But, it would be much more difficult for help to reach them, outside of the heroes already there.

The Squad only split up after far too much complaining, and Midoriya genuinely thinking of grabbing one of his knives. But, unfortunately for his patience, the mission came first.

After pulling up his filtering mask, but making sure to keep his wild green hair out, he jumped from his perch.

Each members' objective was made very clear long before they reached the forest. But the primary one was simple enough; obtain Kaachan.
