~A ninja's greatest weapon~~is the shadows~
Something stirred in the darkness of the alleyway. The young man froze, startled.
Inexperienced.
"Who's there?" he called out, looking around frantically, already on edge due to his previous activities. "I-I'm armed!"
Typical.
They always go for the threats.....
Another movement, the young man saw it from the corner of his eye. He whipped around, yanking a pistol from the waistband of his tattered blue jeans. He held it out, elbows locked, the glint of fear clear in his dark green eyes- made darker by the lack of light in the alleyway. "Come on!" he yelled, fear riddling what might have otherwise been a strong voice. He heard the rustling behind him two seconds too late.
A flash of silver.
A gun-shot.
A yelp of pain.
A thud.
The young man whimpered and squirmed under the weight of his adversary. "Wh-who are you?" he stuttered weakly, unable to catch his breath. The voice came calm and casual, but not with an answer.
"Did you really think you could take me? Especially with such horrible form?"
The young man whimpered again as the speaker pressed their arm harder against his shoulder blades, pulling on his wrists with their other. Had his mind not been preoccupied with fear, he might've taken notice of the voice. It had quite a feminine sound to it; either his attacker was a female, or a very young boy. He also might've noticed that their arm was rather large for either of these possibilities. Not to mention, the overall build of this 'human' was not very human at all. But, being in the position he was, the young man noticed none of these things. Only two things registered in his panicking brain; the first being that he was pinned down to the ground with no way of escape, the second being that he had no idea who- or what- had pinned him.
"Now..." the unknown attacker purred, easing the pressure on the young man's back slightly and allowing him to take a much needed deep breath. "I believe you have something that doesn't belong to you. Mind if I take it?" They reached into the young man's back pocket and removed a large wad of green paper. "I didn't think you would. See, that wasn't so bad, was it?" Afraid of what would happen if he didn't respond, the young man attempted to shake his head no, only managing to move his head a few centimeters due to the fact that his cheek was pressed firmly to the asphalt turf. "Good." The pressure was released from his back, but the young man dared not move just yet. After a few moments, he pushed himself to his feet in a drunken fashion, still struggling to catch his breath. He turned around in a circle, hoping to see the face of his assailant. But they had disappeared. Or, so it seemed.
"Now, you be a good boy and run along home. I'll return this." The voice came from the rooftop to see..
Nothing.
"And don't even think about robbing another store, or next ti-" The flash of blue and red hastily approaching caused the attacker to break off mid-threat. "Guess we don't have to worry about that now, do we?" The young man looked quickly to the next rooftop to see his assailant bound away.
He could've sworn it was a giant turtle.
