⬆️ (The queen's dress in this chapter!)
Arrow sat in the dark room she had been put in for god knows how long. She cried for a bit at first, then began thinking about what was going to happen when she delivered the letter. As she went over a bunch of scenarios in her head, she was startled out of her thoughts by a soft voice.
"Child, get up," it said. Arrow shot her head up, and in the extremely dim light, she could see what looked like the queen. But that couldn't be right, she wouldn't care about speaking to me. Arrow thought. From what she could see, the woman had dark brown hair that reached her shoulder blades and pale skin, and was wearing a gold dress.
"Who are you?" Arrow asked, but still listened, slowly standing, and flinching away when the woman stepped towards her.
"Queen Jessica, my dear. Now, would you like a better place to sleep and some food or not?"
Arrow was frozen in shock for a moment before quickly curtsying the best she could. "M-My apologies for my disrespect, my queen." She stumbled over her words, before a hand reached out and pulled her up by her chin.
"No need for that, my dear, you are doing a large task for us," the older woman spoke. "Follow me, I had a room already prepared for you."
Arrow followed her as she swept from the room, and listened to the woman talk as they went through the halls. "It's not as nice as I'd like it to be—it definitely doesn't compensate for what you are doing. I can ask the maids to prepare one of-"
"There's no need, my Lady, anything you are willing to give me is already enough," Arrow assured her. "I can go out and get my own food, too—I believe I'm quite skilled in hunting."
The Queen stopped in her tracks, rounding on her. "That's absurd! A child shouldn't need to do that," she said. "Even a commoner." She then put her hand on the bottom of Arrows back and continued to lead her down the hall.
"I need to. Since it's my fault my father died, I'm the one who takes his place in the jobs usually meant for him, as my brother is too young and my mother is too old. That's what she's told me, at least."
"How could it possibly be your fault, dear?"
"I was the one that encouraged him to join the war...he died then..." Arrow trailed off.
"Were you the one who delivered the blow or shot that killed him?" Arrow shook her head. "Did you force him to fight?"
"No, but-"
"No 'but''s dear, it is not your fault." The queen cut her off. "Now, here's your room."
The woman opened the door that they'd stopped at, and Arrow stared at the large room that was revealed.
Arrow looked around in awe, then turned back to the queen, beaming.
"Thank you so much! It's beautiful!" She exclaimed.
"I've also prepared some evening gowns, and you can choose which one you would like to wear to dinner tonight."
(So, I want you guys to choose what dress she wears, so I'm gonna put them below! Comment on the one you want her to wear, and I'll choose the one with the most comments! Hope you're having an amazing day!)
