Anthony
In the past, When I went to gatherings,I met lots of youngsters and college kids from our family ,and they always kept asking, "how is life after graduating", "I'm sure you'll really live your life 'till the max", even sometimes "I wish I would graduate soon!" With an UGGGHHH and/or very frustrated tone. But when I look at them, I really really really want to punch them. With all honesty in the world, work phase is the worst after marriage, especially when you're, or trying to be, a successful worker whatever your field is.
Take me as an example. Ever since I graduated college, I knew what I wanted to be (and maybe that's why it was easier for me to "climb the ladder of success"), so I lunched my business right away, and from then, I. Never. Had. A. Moment. Of . Peace. I wake up extra early- I bet I even get up earlier than the security guards- to avoid traffic; I have millions of papers to sign, lots of meeting to go, dinners to attend, people to get to know( if I want to further grow my business), knowing that I am not much into socializing much, places to go, car insurances to take care of....etc. and the list could go on and on until the next week! So, when I meet these young adults, I would shut up. I bet everyone already told them to live their moment, not to waist time, and make as much memories as they can, so me saying and repeating just the same words wouldn't change their mindset. However, I tell them to get an internship in a place they've always wanted to work in or aspired to build as similar business as such. I believe that the internship equals 1/8 of what happens for real in work. However, when I tell them that, they always look at me in disbelief, and some should say that that's "bullshit", but seriously real life is shittier than whatever happens in college.
And everyone has to accept that fact, whether it's bitter or sweet. One day, when you "grow up" and see the work load gets heavier by day, you would miss every second of your life as a student, but none of us would miss the studying part.... hopefully.
Right now, it's 10:37 am, and I have a complaint that a car crashed in the middle of nowhere, with very sever accident scars (if you want an image, imagine stepping on a soda can, and see the result. Trust me, I'm not exaggerating). What am I supposed to do..? Well, work wise, I should try to fix what the insurance cover, but real me wise, I should cut the contract that binds us together and let him fix it himself. Because with all honesty in the world, buying a new one is better than trying to fix it, and it would cost a big deal for me to fix it for his careless self! I bet he was high when he was driving.
" Lilly, tell his guy I can't fix it for him. He better, fix it himself, sell it, or buy a new one because this car looks like a soda can which was stepped over by 7 people in a row." I told my assistant.
" But ,sir, do you think he'll agree? We signed up a contract with him about his insurance." Lily stated the obvious here.
The problem about Lily is that she's very benevolent, and sometimes naïve. I do fix and replace some cars, but I can't fix something I wasn't paired to fix, and I can't replace a car without knowing that the faulty is my problem or my fault. And this is why she can't be more than an assistant: she's too focused on helping others but she lost track of her own life. Hence all the heartbreaking breakups she had, all the friends who betrayed her, and how her colleagues at work use her. Don't get me wrong, I really like how hard working she is, but I can't tell her what to do with her life.
" See, Lily. That guy already took two cars and did the same damn thing with them... and this is the third one. You know how much I appreciate my cars, right?"
" Yes, I do."
" Then tell him that the insurance doesn't cover that much damage he has done on my poor little baby!"
