Chapter 8; Getting sorted
I sat in the corner of the train listening to George, Fred and Lee talk about pranks they are doing or have all ready done for the rest of the journey. A few times George's eyes met mine but looked away every time I looked back.
I was changed into by robes and the train stopped. George grabbed my trunk down from the silver rail above our heads and passed it down to me.
"thanks."I whispered

I stepped into the castle and it took my breathe away. I didn't have any time to look closely look at the different sorts of paintings when a stern looking women with her black greying hair in a tight bun came strolling towards me.
"Jessica-Lily?" The women asked me.
"Y-yes"I stuttered, all this was to much to take in. I was finally at Hogwarts.
"You will be sorted into your house before all the first years. I am sure you know all about the houses?" She looked at me to see if I under stood.
I shook my head at the women.
"There are four houses, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. You will be sorted into one of them houses and your house will be like your family during your time at Hogwarts now come along." she explained to me, she turned and walked towards a crowd of first years and said the same speech about the houses.
We all formed a line, me at the front and marched into the great hall. There we're four long tables in the hall, I quickly looked for the face I had been craving to see. I found him, well it wasnt hard. His ginger hair stood out in the crowded table. His eyes met mine, I wanted to run into his arms, but i couldnt. So i bite my lip and looked away.
We stopped in front of a old stool and a tatty looking hat.
Suddenly the old hat seemed to come alive and burst into song
"A thousand years or more ago,
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones they had to teach.
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.
While still alive they did divide
Their favourites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When they were dead and gone?
'Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!"
Every student and teacher started clapping as the old hat finished its song.
The stern looking women, who name was professor mcgonagall, stepped up beside the hat, picked it up and took a scroll from her pocket.
"Jessica-Lily Potter" She called out. I heard students whisper to their friends whe Professor Mconagall called out my surname. To tell you the truth I was abit taken aback. I stepped up to the stool and sat down. The hat was lowered onto my head.
"Ah! Very hard, very very hard indeed." The hat came alive once again.
"you would be very good in Slytherin, you could do great things, but then again Gryffindor seems the place for you, well it should be..." The hat paused. I held my breathe.
"GRYFFINDOR!"The hat shouted out. The whole of the gryffindor table errupted. I got glares from other tables but I ignored them as I went and sat besides George and Fred.
