"Take it easy Leo," Alice said as she helped me slowly stand up from my wheelchair.

My face cringed as the pain rippled through me.

"Just take your time," she said.

I nodded as I was finally on my feet, gasping for air.

"Are you alright?"

I could hear the concern in her voice.

I nodded my head again.

"Yeah."

She smiled once I was able to stand upright, putting her arm around my waist for support.

She looked around at the view from the hill we were standing on.

Everything was so bright;

A contrast to how I was feeling inside.

And all the buildings appeared to be buzzing with energy;

Energy that I wish I had.

A breeze surrounded us.

I put my hand on my head to keep the hat from falling off but I was too late.

The cool sensation that surrounded my head caused me to look down in embarrassment.

This was the last thing I wanted;

For Alice to see how ugly I truly was.

"Hey everything alright Leo?" she asked.

I nodded my head weakly, refusing to look at her.

Everything wasn't alright.

She probably had a look of disgust on her face.

Why wouldn't she?

I felt a finger under my chin, causing me to look up into her shining green eyes which had specks of brown in them.

They looked so beautiful...

I looked away again, feeling the heat of embarrassment from the way I looked.

"You know..." she trailed off, pulling me closer to her, "I think you look better this way. That hat was hiding your true beauty."

I looked at her as her words reached me.

Maybe I didn't hear her right.

"I mean it Leo."

I continued to looked at her in disbelief, as she smiled, feeling the warmth return to my chest.

How could someone see something like that in me?

Even my girlfriend, who claimed to love me, never said something so...

So kind to me.

I couldn't help the joyous feeling which enveloped me as I continued to look at her looking at the scenery.

Who knew someone could be so thoughtful to a stranger?
