4.11.2014

Emerald eyes with a sprinkle of brown.

I couldn't stop thinking of Alice every single minute of every single day.

She was such a beautiful person;

Inside and out.

I felt my lips turn into a smile, something that had been happening quite frequently.

I couldn't help but to feel grateful for getting someone as wonderful as her in my life.

"Is everything alright Leo?" I heard her voice say.

"Everything's great Alice," I replied, my smile widening.

"Alice? Who's Alice?"

My eyes snapped open at that question.

I looked around my room to find my family surrounding me.

"So you can speak," my brother said with a blank expression.

I swallowed.

I hadn't intended on speaking to my family again.

Not after how they treated me after they learned of my diagnosis.

"What are you doing here?" I forced myself to ask.

"We're visiting you. What do you mean what are we doing here?" my mother said, placing her hand on my head.

I flinched and moved away.

I didn't miss the flash of disappointment which glazed over her eyes.

But like the good actress she was, she quickly blinked it away.

I looked at the clock.

3:00

Where was Alice?

Had they pushed her away?

That thought was enough to irritate me.

"I want you to leave."

I hadn't thought about whether they really did that or not; but there was no need to.

It would be more surprising if they hadn't asked her to leave.

"Son we're not leaving yet. Didn't you hear your mothe—"

"Just leave the same way you made Alice leave."

Before I could stop myself, I blurted out my thoughts, interrupting my father.

They all looked at me with a mixture of confusion and amusement.

Almost as if I was being delusional.

"Who's this Alice you keep talking about?"

And as I was about to say something, the angel herself appeared before me, her face apologetic.

"Alice?" I asked in surprise as my senses took in her presence.

"I'm so sorry Leo. My class ran a little long."

I breathed in a sigh of relief.

There was nothing to worry about; Alice was here.

And she'd always be here.

For me.
