The Date

"Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile."-Franklin P. Jones

I was sitting in front of my vanity, combing out my hair when Eros appeared in my mirror. If I got surprised easy, I probably would have jumped two feet in the air. It was creepy.

“Hey,” he said, smiling and walking over to me. He had disappeared in the car saying he had to 'take care of something'. So I guess he was back now. I finished my hair and slid around in the seat and sighed.

“How do I look?”

“Aphrodite herself would be jealous of your beauty.” He flashed me a wicked grin as I blushed. I crossed my arms across my chest and swallowed.

“So...how does this work? I mean, do I just....” I couldn't finish.

“I'm not forcing you to do anything here.” He put his hand on my folded arms. “Love cannot be forced by someone else. It just happens,” He said.

“So I'm going to fall in love with him!?” I squeaked and my heart sped up. Why was I so nervous?

“Calm down.” He smiled. “Just go see him.”

“I feel weird.” I placed my hand on my heart and gave him a confused look.

“That has to do with me. I have that affect of letting all of those walls you put up for yourself go down.” He smiled at me softly and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. Great....

“These love sayings of yours are really getting on my nerves.” I rolled my neck as if he was actually giving me pain in my neck.

“Please, I live for love.” He grinned.

I smiled back but then a strange thought crossed my mind.

“What do I live for?” I challenged.

He caressed my cheek fondly with the back of his hand.

“That's for you to decide.”

Decisions....decisions....fantastic.

When I reached the entrance to Miracle Bite and saw Noah sitting down waiting for me, I had a mini heart attack and backed out.

“Nope.” Eros grabbed me and turned me back around. His warm hands were still resting on my hips and was facing me toward the entrance.

“What do I do!?” I cried.

“Whatever your heart tells you to do...” His hot breath was on my ear and then I couldn't feel it. His hands disappeared as well.

He was gone.

I took a deep breath and walked in. It smelled delicious in here. I knew it was a frozen custard place but the smell just made my mouth water. I also thought it was cute that he chose this place. I advanced toward him, smoothing out my shirt.

When he caught sight of me, he stood up and smiled.

“Hey,” I greeted friendly.

“Hey to you too.” We both sat down from across each other.

“So you read me like an open book back in Old Navy.” I started the conversation.

“Well, I was kind of checking you out and going along with everything.” He smiled. I smiled back and we talked for awhile before finally getting our custard. He wanted to pay for me but I was against it. I ordered a cup with hot fudge and strawberries and he ordered one with hot fudge and pecans. After talking while eating I realized my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Noah gobbled it down for me while I laughed. I don't remember having this much fun and it was barely a date. Cupid told me his presence would affect me. It really did. I felt gooey.
