Ok! Been a while, huh? Sorry I haven't been active. I've been working really hard in school and writing just hasn't been on my mind.
So, anyways... I've been thinking about where I want to go with Petals. When I first started writing it, I promised myself that I would make it different from the original Flowerfell AU. I didn't want it to just be a rewrite. After seeing a few fan-made games about the other souls that died in the Underground, I started wondering how I could apply those characters to Petals. Undertale never fully reveals the other humans' backstories, it only leaves hints to their personalities and place of death—a clean canvas for a character.
Now, seeing as Flowey guides Frisk through the Underground, I figured he might've guided the humans before her. Helping and losing each human would be traumatic for Flowey, and could open up flashbacks and heartfelt talks with Frisk. So, here's a flashback I came up with. I actually had a lot of fun writing this, and I hope I'll be able to return to Petals soon. But for now, enjoy!

~ The death of Integrity ~

"C'mon, kid! Get up!" Flowey nudges the limp body before him, his petals shaking. Chloe's eyes are half closed, their color dull. A blue spear has lodged itself in her side. She coughs and sputters blood over grass, groaning in agony. The crimson is slowly soaking through her leotard and dripping at Flowey's stem. The metallic clacking of Undyne's armor echos from where the spear was thrown. Flowey takes a hold of the spear in his vines, desperately trying to tug it free from the flesh. The sharp tip remains rooted inside her, not budging. Chloe winces and clenches her teeth, unable to withstand the pain. She digs her nails into the dirt. Flowey tugs again, and she yells for him to stop. Flowey flinches at Chloe's cry, looking over her face with wild, terrified eyes. Her expression is tense, and blood drips from her mouth. She places a soft hand on top of his head and smiles weakly. "Don't cry. You tried your best." She whispers in a raspy voice, gently petting his tattered petals. Flowey chokes and wipes his face with a leaf, surprised to feel hot tears streaming. He shakes his head. "You're going to be fine, just hang in there!" Flowey's voice is wavering with fear and desperation, his head spinning with emotions he's never had before. "Just—" She takes a sharp breath. "...Let me go." Flowey looks down at Chloe's pained face, his vision blurring with tears. "I can't— please..." Flowey sobs. Why her? Why Chloe? What has she ever done? He clenches his eyes shut. He buries his face in to Chloe's chest, sobbing uncontrollably. He never realized how much she meant to him. The thought of losing her forever made him feel like someone was tearing his petals to shreds. Chloe hushes him, eyes teary. She brushes his petals gently, whispering a soft song to him. She cradled his head in her arms, hugging him tightly. As her dark blue eyes slowly fade, she whispers something to him.

"Thank you."
