Lexie

The next day, I went to school, and Bradley didn't approach me. I don't think his meeting went well with Dad. My father could be scary when he wanted to, but he was a marshmallow with us. Mom said it was because of his childhood.

I never knew my parent's family. They told me their parents died before I was born. It was the same with my aunt Lexie who my parents named me. Emilia talks about her mom, but rarely. I respected her decision, and it never interested me to ask about people I never met. Some people are curious to know about family history; I'm not one of those people.

I opened my locker, and Quinn was getting her books when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Thomas standing there, holding a necklace in his hand.

"What's that?" I inquired.

"What does it look like?" Thomas asked.

"A necklace," I answered with a strange look as Quinn snickered.

"That's good that you know what it is, considering I would question if you didn't," he retorted as Quinn giggled. I shook my head.

I took the necklace from Thomas and looked at it. "Mi amor?" I asked, confused.

"It's Spanish for my love," Thomas said, surprising me. "I like how it sounds and thought you would like it."

I ran my thumb over the delicate wording as I smiled. "I don't like it," I replied as Thomas furrowed his brows. "I love it," I added as he smiled. I wrapped my arm around his neck and kissed him as I held the necklace in my other hand. Thomas kissed me back, pulling me close to him.

"Well, ew," Quinn remarked as we broke from our kiss. I looked at her as she made a face.

I let go of Thomas. "Thanks for ruining our moment," I retorted.

"Any time," Quinn smirked.

"One day, you will find someone and make goo-goo eyes at that person," I told Quinn.

"That's doubtful," Quinn replied as she closed her locker and left. She can lie to herself all she wants, but I know she likes Landon. I didn't think Landon felt the same way. I sighed.

Landon

I pulled books out of my locker and heard someone say, "Hey, Landon."

I turned to see Quinn standing there. "Hey, Quinn," I greeted her.

"So, I was thinking about Saturday," Quinn said. I furrowed my brows. Please tell me she isn't canceling. "I thought I could have my parents order pizza, and we could watch some action films."

I felt relief when she mentioned Saturday. I know Dad would disapprove of us hanging out, considering my age. I'm fifteen, and he forbids dating until we're eighteen. It surprised me when he allowed Lexie to date at seventeen.

I don't think that eating pizza and watching a movie would hurt. It's not a date, but two people are hanging out. I call that a loophole.

"Sounds good to me," I replied as Quinn smiled. I liked her smile.

"Cool. I'll text you," I mentioned.

"I have to text you, considering I got a new phone and don't know the number yet," Quinn said. I gave her my number, and she sent me a text, then I added it to my contacts.

Quinn walked away as Valeria walked up.

"What was that?" Valeria asked.

"Quinn and I are hanging out Saturday night," I answered.
