Aurora's P.O.V

Come on Aurora, you can do this. I try to contact my wolf but she is still mumbling to herself so I push open the doors and take the first steps on my own. Taking deep breathes I reach for the door and push; I put on my best smile and go towards the counter. Immediately, Cathy notices me and starts rushing over to greet me with a cheery smile which I return. In the corner of the café, I see her husband, James, watching my every move clearly uneasy with having a rogue working here. No pressure. Note the sarcasm.

Quickly, Cathy ushers me over to another girl who is the corner away from everyone' sight. The girl's eyes widen when she sees me and the smile instantly slips from her face being replaced by a look of confusion and fear.

Great another werewolf. Why are they in town? Am I closer to the pack than I thought? Cathy swore that I wasn't.

"Aurora I would like you to meet Lilly she's been working here for a long time now. Can't seem to get rid of her." Cathy laughs putting an arm around the girl, who I now know is Lily, which instantly has her grinning back.

"Well, Lilly here will be showing you the ropes, so Lilly please look after her and Mia I assure you that you are in safe hands," Cathy says before quickly rushing to help behind the counter.

Silence surrounds us, no one wants to make the first move. Maybe this is what had my wolf so uneasy but if that's so why is she still pacing?

"Sorry, I don't mean to come off rude it's just, well, I wasn't expecting to see, well, you. A rogue." She stammers out with a nervous look. I don't think she understood how rude she is sounded however I understood what she meant.

"No problem. I understand why you wouldn't want a rogue around here but after you show me the ropes I will stay out of your way and when we do speak it will be professionally only. I don't want or need friends so don't worry. I'm only here for the money." I reply before seeing disappointment flash in her eyes.

Disappointment is something I have grown used to. It's a look I am either met with or feel every day. Whether it be from him, my past life, humans judging me for being a young single mum or packs judging me for being a rogue. I offer a smile to Lilly hoping she will start showing me the basics so I can get through this day.

"No, no. I didn't mean it as a bad thing, I'm still looking forward to getting to know you whether you are a rogue or not. Now the job is pretty simple, we go to tables asking what they would like to order usually we take the drinks first before going back for their food orders. We obviously don't have to remember it as we get given a notebook and pen which I will find for you." She begins and then she starts explaining each part of the café from where we reactive the orders to where Cathy's office is.

After 30 minutes of explaining from Lilly, I finally start working and it turns out she was extremely nice like Cathy said as she kept guiding me on things to do. The café bell chimes signaling someone has entered and Lilly gives me a look to take their orders and see how I go. With that being said I brace myself waiting for the family to get comfortable and looks at the menu before walking over to them.

"Hello, my name is Aurora I'm your waitress today. Do you know what drinks you would like today?" I ask with a friendly smile on my face which the family soon return back.

"Hi, can I have a cup of tea please, my wife would like lemonade with ice and my princess will have a blackberry fruit shoot please?" The man speaks up, his words making my smile grow.

What a cute family. I write his drink order down on my notepad before asking if they know what food they would like yet however he replies that they are still unsure and so I take my leave to make their drinks. As I made their drinks Lilly comes over, more like runs over, grinning at me.

"You did great, looks like you no longer need my help, I mean you are practically a natural now." She says making me shake my head at her smiling.

Time flies by after that and the rest of the day goes smoothly leaving me to question why my wolf was so on edge when everyone here seems so friendly. It's 12:50 pm and I finish my shift in 10 minutes like Lilly. The only struggle today was mostly keeping my distance from Lilly and Cathy, I am determined to keep this professional but all they want to do is get closer to knowing the real me. My walls are crumbling slightly as I am beginning to offer my own commentary during our conversations but as long as I stay focus on not getting close, I will get by fine. Though they may seem friendly I need to remember that they are werewolves, what if they turn me into their Alpha or turn on me. They can't know much about me or anything about Danny.

The shop is a little quieter for Lilly and me as more workers are in now knowing we are about to finish our shifts. Cathy comes over to where we stand behind the counter.

"Why don't you girls go get changed back into your own clothes and go get ready to leave, you can finish a little earlier for today," Cathy says as she smiles at us.

We both give her a smile before going to the employees' room to our lockers. I never brought spare clothes to change into, I guess it slipped my mind. I didn't mind too much as the uniform was quite comfy.

On the other hand, Lilly wasted no time in changing before rushing out the room saying she had to quickly speak with someone. Not questioning her worried look I decide to take my time in getting ready to leave as I struggle to find where my apron goes. Maybe I'm meant to keep it?

After 5 minutes of looking, I give up and fold it into my bag. Quickly, I use the toilet and then make my way out into the café again. I try to find Cathy and Alice to say goodbye and thanks for today as it would be the polite thing to do. Cathy seems busy helping a customer at the moment so I go to find Alice first however she is nowhere in sight. Deciding to follow her scent it leads me to the more secluded place at the café although she is not alone, as I detect other werewolf scents and hear growls instantly making my body freeze. Are they growling from my rogue scent? Or did Lilly just share some bad news which made them angry?

Please be the latter.

Being the stupid being that I am, I carry on letting my feet take me towards Lilly and maybe even my death. My feet have a mind of their own as they around the corner to see Lilly with three other males; one with his arm around her, who is most likely her mate, and two other males with their back facing me. Seeing her mates' eyes turn cold dark I see he is struggling to control his wolf making me regret ever working here.

My attention kept going to the tallest and muscular man, he had to be around 6'7, he had brown hair which was a little bit longer. I can see myself tugging at it with my hands with his muscular body looming over me making me lick my lips in appreciation.

Wait, what?

I don't say things like that. Shaking my head to clear my mind of these awful thoughts, I see Lilly rush towards me as if to protect me before the other two males turn around and my eyes instantly lock onto a pair of dark brown ones. Everyone else seems to fade away and it's like it is just me and him. No one else.

'Our mate'

This cannot be happening.
