Your relationship with Dean remained strained as the days past. No news of your daughter, no way to get her away from the Angels yet. You had moved hotel rooms, traveling closer to the Angel stronghold, hoping that you would hear something.
Dean had kept to himself, requesting two rooms, letting you have your own while he shared with his brother. It hurt, being separated, especially since you were getting used to being human. You wanted him by your side, needed his support. But you understood him as well. He was filled with remorse that you had given up your Angelic powers for him. He was frustrated that he couldn't save his daughter. And when Dean was that way, he drew into himself.
Sitting criss-cross on your double-sized bed, you wished Aine had stayed as well. But she was gone, promising to return with any information about your daughter. Dean was locked away in his room, while you had no idea where Sam and Cas were.
Tears slipped down your cheeks. You were scared, and hurting, and while you would gladly give your life again and again for Dean, this separation hurt. And you knew in the end, you wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
"Y/N?" Cas called out softly, appearing by the bathroom.
"Hey Cas," you sniffled softly, smiling wistfully at the shaggy little stuffed bunny he was holding. "Where did you find that?"
Cas, with his blue eyes watching you closely, came to stand next to you, handing it over. "When you and Dean went in to save your daughter, we couldn't find you. Sam and I? We worried that the three of you perished as well. But there were no bodies, only this. Slightly covered in ash, it was your daughter's favorite toy, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, Bobby gave that to her," you answered. "She wouldn't go anywhere without it. She's probably so terrified right now."
Awkwardly he reached out, placing what was supposed to be a comforting hand on your shoulder. "She's strong. After all, she has two strong parents. She's probably driving them crazy."
"Thanks, Cas," you tried to say, but he was already gone, leaving you alone once again.
With nothing else to do, you tried connecting to Angel radio, hoping that a slimmer of your Angelic grace still resided inside you. But it was nothing but static, dashing your hopes once again.
"Can I come in?" Dean yelled through the door as he knocked. It surprised you, but you moved quickly, unlocking the door and letting him in. His gaze searched your face, frowning at the tear streaks still noticeable. "Where did you get that?" He asked, pointing to the bunny.
You handed it over, the bunny tiny in his hands. "Cas found it, and kept it safe."
"She'll be glad to see it," he muttered. "Listen Y/N, I know I've been distant lately, and I'm sorry for that. I know this is a really hard time for all of us. I just wish you hadn't...,"
"But I did!" You argued. "I did what needed to be done, and we just need to accept it so we can go save our daughter."
"We have a plan," he told you, pulling you into his arms. You rested your head against his chest, relaxing, relieved to be back in his grasp. "Cas and I are going to leave tomorrow to check it out. Once we get more information, you and Sam will join us."
"Why not all of us at once?"
"Don't hate me," he pleaded, running his hands up and down your arms. "But I want you back here, safe. Until we know more. If things go south, at least I know I still have you and Sam to go after her."
You wanted to argue, but you knew Dean had to do this. He was hurting just as much as you were. "Just don't do anything stupid."
"You do remember it's me, right?" He kidded, before turning serious once again. "Y/N, I'm going to do everything in my power to get our little girl back. But I need to do this my way."
"Can you stay with me tonight?" You asked. "I know you're still upset about what happened, but...,"
"Of course. I was stupid for staying away as long as I did," he sighed. "I was punishing you for something I would have done myself."
He took your hand, guiding you to the bed. Laying down, you watched as he shrugged out of his flannel and boots before he climbed in beside you, pulling you until you were laying on your side cuddled against his chest.
The next morning you felt Dean stirring before the sun had started to rise. "Dean?" You asked, wondering if something was wrong.
"Cas and I wanted to get an early start," he explained, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "Go back to sleep."
"But...,"
He shook his head, just as Cas appeared in the room. "Sleep. We'll contact you as soon as we know anything. Let me go find our daughter."
You reached out, squeezing his hand before he turned to Cas. Before you could blink they were gone, leaving you all alone once again in your hotel room. But this time your heart was filled with hope. Because you knew that Dean would stop at nothing to find his daughter. And once he did, he would bring you to search as well.
