Joshua sit in the living room in front of the television. It was 7 PM on a cold winter night. Christmas was a few weeks away and the television had all the advertisements running for it.

The station was about to stop broadcasting and was going through it's usual sign off procedure

His mom peeked into the living room and looked at Joshua, who was fixed onto the TV. She brushed the curls out of her eyes to see better. "Joshua it's almost 9. I hope you are going to bed soon, you have school tomorrow."

"I'm watching the sign off Mom. I will go to bed when it's done."  he said, not looking back at his mom.

His mom sighed but let him stay. "You better be or you will be grounded." she shut the door to her living room and locked it.

The national anthem began playing and Joshua looked down at the floor. This is when things started to get strange.

The picture became photo-negative and the audio became unstable. The voices singing the anthem got distorted. Joshua was concerned and just ignored it, thinking that the antenna was starting to go. It continued like this until the audio started jumping at the end of it with a picture of the American flag seizing up in the frame. This was when the text on screen starting typing.

"THIS IS A TRANSMISSION."

Joshua looked up at the television to see a message typed in the same EBS font that the station used back in the day.

"GO TO YOUR COMPUTER JOSHUA."

Joshua's face froze. "...we don't even have one." he whispered. "HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME."

The television displayed a prompt.

"THERE IS SOMETHING I WANT TO SHOW YOU JOSHUA."

The television started flashing to explosions shot from an airplane camera, stock market graphs going downhill, and protesting with road flares. All of these images flashed quickly and with messages like. "THEY ARE COMING." and "THE REBELLION WILL BE BROADCAST."

Joshua started having a panic attack, seeing all of these images were making his blood boil. "WHO ARE YOU."

The television started making a robotic voice along with the prompt.

"YOU WILL LEAD THE REBELLION WITH THE OTHERS JOSHUA. WE WILL SPEAK AGAIN SOON."

Joshua had enough.

He stood up and started screaming and drop kicked the CRT tube, a electrical flash shorted the entire house power. His mom ran out and looked shocked at him as he took his foot out of the television. Joshua looked at his mom, then fell over in front of the TV. The last message he got from the now broken tube was.

"WE WILL MEET AGAIN SOON."
