Joshua and Colin shout as the car slams into a tomato stand on the side of a street. Joshua manages to hit the brakes hard and stop the car. There are palm trees all around them, and no sign of any police units behind them.
"He got us to California" said Kyle. "The fucker really did it."
Joshua shouts in victory, Colin can't help but smile.
The old man running the tomato stand runs and slams on the back of the car. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID, WHERE YOU EVEN COME FROM?" His English was broken.
Joshua pulled out his wallet and found two stacks of two thousand dollars in bills and threw them at the man. "Just don't say anything alright."
The man gazed at the money. "We are okay! You get discount now!" he said as he walked away.'
Colin's head was still foggy from the impact of the tomato stand. "Where are we Boss?"
His phone speaks. "WE ARE IN SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA."
Joshua pulls up his phone and looks, they are in a neighborhood nearby the city.
"Where do we go from here Boss? Who are we looking for?" Colin looks around and sees the people staring at them. "Do they know we teleported."
"UNLIKELY. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION." Boss states. "IS YOUR VEHICLE STILL OPERATIONAL?"
Joshua hits the gas and the engine roars. "I think so."
"PLEASE GO TO THIS ADDRESS AND CHECK YOURSELF INTO ROOM 12 USING YOUR ID. YOUR FARE HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL. CHANGE WHILE YOU ARE THERE." Boss states.
Kyle tracks down the address. Another hotel, a little more upscale than the last one.
Joshua kicks the car into gear and heads toward the address. He passes by the tomato shop owner, who happily waves at him as he drives by.
"I feel like my body has been violated in almost every way." says Colin, as he puts the seat back. "How much do you think we stand out."
"Probably a lot." Kyle mutters from the back. "I wish my life was the way it was five days ago."
Joshua laughs "Me too kid." he drives into the parking lot of the hotel. A staff member comes out to greet them as they get out of the car.
"Hello, have you checked in already?"
Joshua tries to keep cover. "No, we are here to visit a friend."
The staff member smiles as she nods her head. "Okay. Let me know if you need anything."
"Thank you miss." Joshua nods as they proceed through the hallways and into the room. Colin scans his ID and the door opens.
On the beds there are changes of clothing that are more suburban and modern and more for middle class. This was a great change for Colin and Kyle, but turned out to be a little uncomfortable for Joshua, who has not worn a flannel and jeans in years. Kyle turned on the TV and began to flip through the channels. Colin was taking a nap on the bed, and Joshua was attempting to communicate with Boss.
Kyle then flipped onto a local news broadcast that was carrying an Department of Homeland Security Press Conference, a balding man was taking statements from reporters.
"Sir do you know the whereabouts of these men and if they are a security threat to the United States?" the journalist asked.
The bald man looked up and answered honestly. "We do not know the locations of these individuals at this time. However, it is likely that they are watching this broadcast right now. If they are, I would advise them to surrender themselves."
Kyle turned cold as he watched. Is this a warning that they are looking for them?
Another journalist raised his hand and asked. "Do you think these men would commit another robbery again." and the photo panned out to a sketch of men believed to be in an serial armed robbery stunt. Kyle breathed a sigh of relief as he laid his head on his pillow and joined Colin in taking a nap.
They broke physics today. He deserved it.
