ELIZA
I'm putting on my cherry lip balm and just finished washing my face. I don't know where this date is going but I know for sure I crave Hunter every time. That's what I realized. He's been extra sweet and caring when we're walking, making sure my hand is latched in mine. And because of our height difference, he'd be leaning down to me to either kiss me full on the lips, whisper in my ear or just stare at me straight in the eye. Anything he does just intensifies the sensation between my legs. It's like I want to be near him, skin to skin, every damn time.
I was reaching for a paper towel to dry my hands when the same girl across from us took her place by my side, eyeing me up and down. She's staring at me in the mirror, I don't know if she's smirking or smiling but I smiled at her nonetheless, just being polite. Hunter mentioned he'll tell me later who she is. I didn't worry much about it. I'm too happy to even bother or be jealous.
"So Eliza, right?"
"Yeah, it was really nice meeting you Amelia."
I smiled sweetly as I put a bit of concealer under my eyes. The heat earlier made it red and puffy.
"I'm actually serious when I warned you earlier. I wish you were never deep into liking him at this stage. Boy got secrets."
I'm really trying not to be a bitch and be as courteous as I can be. I never know what she is in Hunter's life and I'm starting to trust him and only him. When he tells me he will talk about it later, I should wait. But this girl beside me is losing every patience in my body. Who does she think she is?
"You know what? It's obvious you're a friend from back home and I'm well aware you know more than I do but we're having such a great time together. You don't have to ruin it."
I ended up staring back at her in the mirror and she just smirked. That evil smile I want to wipe from her face.
"Good thing he does the girlfriend thing now. Lucky you, I hope you can live up to me."
I felt my blood boil over her snarky comment. She applied a thick red streak of lipstick over her perfectly plump lips and smacked, dabbing the sides of it with a tissue. I scan her face and she looks so gorgeous, so classy. Taller than me, long legs, perfect asymmetrical face with her matching redhead curls. Every inch of this woman screams sophistication. I gathered up all the sass in my body and almost snarled at her but I stopped myself.
"Hunter was right. Everything between us is none of your goddamn business."
She chuckled. The kind that rambles deep and sounds like an evil witch? Yeah, that's her chuckle. I turned on my heel and couldn't wait to get out of the bathroom but she mentioned one thing that made my ears ring and my heart beat faster.
"And I was never a friend, girl. I was his fiancée. Would you like to see the ring he gave to me?"
I can't hear anymore, so I rushed through the parking lot, looking like an idiot, crying while running. I knocked on the Porsche's door and good thing it opened. Hunter's head is bowed down but this revelation can't wait any longer. I tried to calm down, put my purse on the dashboard and my hand on my thighs, they're shaking.
"She was your fiancée?" I asked him, the words spilling out along with my tears.
"Uh..." he was speechless. Not a shadow of a doubt that he'll ask her to marry her. The woman is sex on legs. Everything fades away when she's in the room and I am a living testament to that. Everything felt so small when she talked with her posh British accent. It's not forced but it intimidated me nonetheless.
"Tell me, Hunter! I can't take any more of these secrets!" I shouted at him. This day was perfect the way it is. Why does it feel like everything I do with him is doomed to be ruined? Yet I can't stay away.
