This was it. It was FINALLY the first day of summer! I had passed my senior year with straight A's. Me and Katie were graduated, and tomorrow morning we would be on a plane to Ireland for the ENTIRE summer. I was psyched! I wish Katie was here, but her mom wanted her to stay home until it was time for us to leave. They said "we would see each other plenty in the next few months" and that "they needed some family time". Oh well....I guess they are right. I just wish I had someone to talk to.....but I guess it's just me and my teddy bear, Princess, for tonight. I stared up at the stars on my ceiling. I absolutely LOVE stars. I'm going to have to remember to get some new ones when we reach our new "home"....I sighed and squeezed my teddy bear, I was pretty sure I would be getting NO sleep tonight!
I crashed about 10 minutes later...so much for that idea.
*Next Morning*
"Goodbye mommy! I love you!!" I exclaimed as I gave her a big hug.
"Love you too Aiden, have fun. I'm going to miss you so much!"
She then went on to remind me about everything I would need to remember: don't forget to brush your teeth every night, remember to call, don't get distracted during layovers and miss your next flight, and so on.
I assured her that I would be fine, and gave her one last hug before grabbing Katie's hand and running onto our plane.
The flight was sooooo long. I knew it would be, but I guess I had been so excited about leaving that I hadn't thought much about it. I get pretty claustrophobic when I am in closed spaces for too long. Especially when there are a lot of people around. Every time we stopped for a layover I practically ran off the plane screaming for joy.
Me and Katie were in a particularly long layover, (which I totally wasn't complaining about) so we decided to go find something to eat. I let her pick out where to go since I really didn't care, as long as there was food.
After we found a small table for the two of us, I began inspecting the silverware, paying close attention to the spoons. Deciding none of them were good enough, I settled on just using a fork. Now, I know what you are probably thinking...."Oh! Liam is afraid of spoons, so that's why Aiden doesn't want to use one!" Wrong! No! Incorrect! I am NOT afraid of spoons....I just dislike most of them. I'm extremely picky about what kind of spoons I do and do not use. Even before I had ever heard of 1D! Katie just just smiled and shook her head at me as she picked up one of my discarded spoons and began eating her soup.
We had been back on the plane for HOURS now. Katie had fallen asleep on my lap, and I felt like this constituted as a good reason to do something evil to her as she slept. Plus, I knew it would distract me from getting sick. So I started tying her hair into little braids. I don't know exactly how long I did this, but I was stopped when a voice came on telling us to put on our seatbelts because we would be landing in Mullingar in a little less than 15 minutes. A little over half of Katie's long red hair was in tiny braids. I didn't get the chance to finish. So I hurried and took a picture planning to upload it to twitter before I woke her up. Oh....she was going to kill me. I snapped the pic and scooted as far away as possible before sharply jabbing her in the side. She swung up flailing her arms narrowly missing my face. And THIS is exactly why I moved. She doesn't like being woken up....I told her what was happening, and in a daze half asleep still, she did as she was told. She hadn't even noticed what I had done to her hair yet. Good, it would be best to be a ways away when she did find out. We got off the plane grabbing our bags.
"Aiden....why do people keep giving me weird looks? Do I have something on my face??"
"Oh that is strange...I dunno," I replied walking a little quicker.
We stepped into the airport and immediately began looking for my dad.
"Oh my gosh.....Katie.....we are in Ireland!" It had just hit me that we had actually arrived in this beautiful country.
She started to scream and jump around, just as excited as I was when....one of the braids smacked her in the face.
"Oh. My. Gosh." She ran her hands through her hair, then slowly looked over at me. "AIDEN I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!"
Luckily for me I had just seen my dad and so I sprinted over to him and jumped into his arms begging him to save me. Katie finally caught up and gave me a death glare.
"Hello Princess!" my daddy exclaimed.
"Daddy!! I missed you!"
"I missed you too Sweetie, hello Katie! How are you? I like the new hair," he said.
She glared at me again before mumbling, "You are so dead. " I just smiled and turned back to my Dad.
"Are you girls hungry?" he asked, "we could go get something to eat if you want."
"Of course!" I exclaimed.
He just chuckled at me, "That's my girl." He said lovingly. "Where would you two like to go?? There are plenty of different places...Mexican, American, Italian...."
Me and Katie looked over at each other, a smile slowly spreading across both of our faces.
"NANDOS!!!!!" We cried together.
