"You are what!!!!"
I sighed and pressed my fingers to my temples, failing to stop the oncoming headache. I had just finished all the work I was behind in for school. I had been putting off telling Katie about my plans for the summer. I knew she wasn't going to take it very well, but it had to be done. So I called her and had her come over. She lived right down the street, so it took only about a minute for her to arrive.
"I can't believe you are going to leave me for the ENTIRE summer!"
"Katie I'm sorry! You should be happy...I get to see my dad!" I was failing at making her look on the bright side of the situation.
"You get to go half-way across the world Aiden! To Ireland!! For over 3 months! Would you be happy if that was ME leaving YOU??"
"Well no...but..."
"Exactly."
She sat and glared at me for a full minute while I looked guiltily at my red TOMS. Finally, the glare turned into a pout.
"What if you get to meet them," she cried.
I knew exactly who she meant when she said "them"...but I decided to play dumb instead.
"Meet who exactly??"
"Don't play dumb Aiden. You know who."
"Oh...I doubt I will. They are super busy, and it isn't exactly like our small town we live in. I highly doubt that will happen," I said trying to soothe her, while secretly wishing I
would have that chance.
"Yeah, but what if you do! Without me! We were supposed to have that adventure together if it ever happened..."
"I know Katie, but it's not like you could just hop on the plane with me and fly to Ireland for the summer," I started.
I looked up at her, and saw her eyes go big and round.
"Oh my gosh, Katie, no. I am so not sneaking you onto a plane!"
She sent me an evil glare.
"No you dork! I was thinking maybe if we asked...maybe...just maybe I could come with you!"
"Oh! Yeah, that is a much better plan!"
"No duh..." then she proceeded to punch me in the arm. Hard.
"Ow! What was that for?! I agreed to your plan!!
"Yeah, but I'm very offended that you wouldn't help me sneak onto a plane."
