Mia didn't want to stay up watching men digging up more dirt, so Klaus grabbed her a hotel to stay in for the night while he tended to his task.
"Was tonight enough for you?" He asked as they looked for the master suite together.
"Enough meaning, did I have fun?" She smiled and unlocked the golden accented doors, "I may have wanted to swim in a clear lake with floral petals dancing around me, but yeah. I had fun– thanks to you."
Klaus paused in front of the doorway with a curious expression.
"I know it's hard for you to not listen to your paranoia. But you put that aside for me. And I noticed that," Mia started to feel her heart feel full and warm, "thank you."
"Anything for the mercy of their ears," Klaus laughed, "and to see you smile again. I've noticed you've been unhappy since then."
"Mourning is difficult to get over, but I'll do," Mia grabbed the edge of the door, "goodnight."
"Goodnight," Klaus smiled and glanced at her before she closed it shut. His grin remained on his lips while traveling back to the construction site, only thinking about their night together.
Mia's head was in the same place– she couldn't get Klaus's smile or stupid jokes out, no matter what she occupied herself with in the meantime.
Sometimes the girl found herself believing that Klaus was not the monster that every vampire feared. That he was a man, who suffered a great amount of tragedy his human life. A man who was a result from constant abuse– never once showed love.
Yet, the horror of his killings still haunted her and she heard it from the man himself– Klaus didn't trust anyone. Mia decided to keep her guard up against him, regardless of her feelings for him.

"Mia. Mia. Mia!"
She woke up at the agitating sounds of Zella's voice. She was in her room, back in California.
"You're going to be late for school," She was in her soccer uniform, "Kara made breakfast already."
"In a few," Mia groaned and tossed her blankets over her head, but Michelle grabbed them from her.
"Now!"
She rolled her eyes at the sound of her older sister's giggling and proceeded to change for school. Once she trotted down the stairs, Mia noticed no one was there.
"Zella?" She called out into the empty, unfurnished living room, "Michelle?"
When she turned around, Mia faced Zella's corpse; throat slit out and body wet, as if she came back from the dead.
