Chapter Eleven

Miranda

The looks, those are what I had to look forward to everyday; until it was nighttime at least. For once the moon was bright and high in the sky, he was by my side. He would hold me all night and we would stay up almost all night, just talking and doing nothing but laying in each other’s arms.

That’s the way it has been since I found out the secret within the kingdom I live in. And for the first time it was secret that I was ok with keeping because for once I felt happy.

I looked up at him before I walked into one of the bedrooms and he had that look on his face. I still wasn’t sure exactly what the look was, but I did know that it made me feel whole. The look made me think that I was not alone anymore. I gave him a small smile so his brothers wouldn’t catch us.

We were talking so much about everything. I learned some of his likes and dislikes. Like how he likes being outside and running through the woods in his wolf form. He finds it funny how Tait is so much like a little kid. It annoys him that Adrian thinks only of women as hot and nothing else. He told me how much he admires Ryker for being able to take care of him and his brothers and being a really good leader. He loved how Tad was creative and artistic. It despises him at how rude Storm is, but knows that it is part of a wall that he puts. He also told me a story about Soren and how it saddens him that Soren was in so much pain. I remember that story the most.

We were lying in my bed, I was lying with my head on his chest our legs tangled together and our hands linked together on his stomach. I was thinking about how weird it was to have a mate and just how lucky I was that Drake was actually mine.

Most people probably wouldn’t consider it being lucky, considering I was a slave and the one person that I will be with and mean everything to me is technically someone who “owns” me. I didn’t care about that though I was just happy that I could be with him, even though we couldn’t be out in the open. This thought troubled me though, it made me think. Was he the first of his brothers to find his mate or if they did why wasn’t their mate here with them? Because I learned from Drake that once they have found their mate not being beside them weakens them.

“Do any of your brothers have a mate?” I asked him because some of them I couldn’t even imagine having a mate, like Adrian and Storm.

He was silent and for a second I thought that he had fallen asleep on me, which wouldn’t have surprised me because they had all been training more and more every day. I looked up at his face to see him staring up at the canopy of the bed.

“Well…” he started rubbing circles on my back. I nuzzled up against him waiting for him to be comfortable to continue  with what he was saying. “one of my brother’s do you have a mate, but it’s complicated.”

“Which one and why is it complicated?” I asked really wanting  to know, even though it wasn’t any of my business.

“Your being kind of noisy, are you not?” he smirked down at me, gently rubbing my back.

“I just…um, uhh…sorry.” I could feel my cheeks heating up from the embarrassment and hoping he would not get real mad at me.

“No, it’s ok. It’s just he didn’t really want anyone to know, but I think that it might just be ok and that he would understand.” He gave me a small smile that made me never to want to let him go, if it meant facing difficult things.
