HE awoke in the morning when the sun rayed him through the curtains. That quiet morning, the usual loud noises from the neighbourhood was unheard, seemingly that morning was purposely designed to bring quietness and inspiration. He stood up from his bed, leaning his shoulder on the wall, spying the outside world through the window, inhaling the fresh brand new air. He had been waiting for that day to come, for so many reasons, for so many months, though deeply he was afraid for the day to come, he was excited too.

He stretched his body several times, cracking the bones that rested throughout the night. He rubbed both eyes, refreshing his sight, he took a step to the bathroom door, brushing his teeth, getting himself ready for the day.

His physique hadn't changed much, his height remained the same, his weight though had increased a few kilograms through his routine. Overall, he lived a healthier life, giving up cigarette for nearly a year now, occasional drinking, and was hitting the gym as well. He was progressing well these past few months, and he began to realise that life has so much to offer than just sitting in the bedroom crying over something that has left for good. He was healing, he was being optimistic of all that happened in his life.

He lost his first love, he lost his great friends, he lost someone he was eyeing to for so many years, he lost control over his life. He blamed himself the most for being oblivious to inevitable circumstances. For so many moons, questions by questions kept on interrogating his peace.

"Why is this happening to me?" The over and over question he has for himself, none could ever answer that for him. He has been seeking professional supports from his parents too, including a scheduled counselling session with them so he could let out what has he been fighting for all alone. He thought he was gone insane, the past 2 years treated him badly, crazily and unfairly.

He sighed, walking down the stairs, filling up his stomach with a typical breakfast, the parents were there sitting by the table, looking to the son who was anxious for the day.

"Are you alright honey?" The mother spoke in a low tone, good enough to reach his ears. He gave her a smile, unresponsive to an early morning conversation.

"I am good,.. ma" He answered eventually. His face was pale, it told the parents he was not okay after all. But that smile on his face was good enough to tell anyone around him that he was surviving, that he was all ready to fight again.

The parents knew the day was an important day for him, his brothers knew he was waiting for that day to come, he himself knew he was vulnerable when that day finally came. And there in that living room of his family house, they were impatiently waiting for the time to reach 10am.

"Five Minutes!" The brothers mumbled, shivering in his arms. He was counting the minute, following every seconds of the numbers to move, he hold his mother's hand tight, he readied for any possibility, the possibility of changes he sought for months, the second chance he craved, the dream he wished to come alive. His fingertip was just above the "enter" button, 10 seconds, 5 seconds, 1 second and click!

"Congratulations! You are accepted to St John's University!"

He almost fainted, his tears slowly falling down, his parents hugged him tight in gratefulness, his brothers cheered out loud. His world was fulfilled by gratitudes, happiness, loves. He felt overwhelmed, he felt the heat warming up his body, he felt his world rising up, and there, he saw nothing but light, just light.
