Hate
Two parts of hair hanging by your ears, hair hanging down to your eyes.
Tell me Link, is it uncomfortable?
The hair getting in the way of your fighting?
Your heavy duties as my personal guard, soon to be official champion of Hyrule?
The gaze of all of Hyrule on you as you pledge your allegiance to protect Hyrule?
The weight of that stupid darkness sealing sword on your back?
Is it uncomfortable having to maintain an image as someone you'd rather not be?
Is it Link?
Is it?
Because it is.
For me it is.
The world doesn't know me! My father doesn't know me!
Why should I let their sick judgement get to me?And yet I do!
Do you not know the pain and suffering of having to wear a mask?
This façade you wished to be rid of, one that you have been with since young childhood?
My father mentions my name and I look up at him. Will this be the only time he will recognise me for my efforts?
He's only speaking me on simple craftmanship for those blue garbs...
The one you're wearing right now was sewn with malice, malice I could not explain.
And yet, no one would ever know.
Not even my father who was currently addressing me, speaking about my duty.
It would've been nice to come from a family of knights wouldn't it?
Nothing royal to worry about, right?
Despite my origins, you seem to have a much more privileged life than I.
Praying and praying every day for a miracle.
You got to play and enjoy your youth.
We finish up inside the hall, the champions heading outside to a small pavilion.
The place where I had 'blessed' you.
All ceremonial pomp unnecessary.
Mipha examines my shiekah slate with such curiosity in her eyes.
This girl.
I never understood why she was so infatuated with you.
She hands the slate over to someone else.
We gather around for a photo
Mipha takes a deep breath in and shakes her hands when we pose for a photo.
Better off she was the one you'd be protecting, right?
Not some princess that wants nothing to do with you.
We stand as we get our photo taken.
I feel your body on mine and gasp in shock.
Daruk had pushed us, and you were standing much closer to me.
Closer than I had hoped you would be.
I had made sure I was standing farther from you!
You, able to do your job.
You, able to get the master sword out of its pedestal.
You, able to accomplish more than I ever could.
You, the one stuck next to me as it is your duty.
You, the one I hate, because of everything you've achieved.
There are just too many reasons why.
Too many reasons as to why I hate you.
