"Time to show em what we go," Jack flexes his muscles as we sit down in PE class.

Today is the day we're showing our class our dances to MMMBop. It must be said, Jack and I are extremely excited. Zoe and Neil look flawless in their ballroom attire, looking way more professional than the other kids in their PE shirts and shorts or leggings. Sophia and Cinzia look more professional in their leotards and shorts and Jack and I look like we put almost no thought into our routine in our PE shirts and jogging bottoms. Boy are they about to be surprised.

"Okay, settle down!" our teacher calls loudly. The class is being particularly rowdy today.

"I imagine it's the excitement of seeing me perform," Jack says, his boyish smile coming through. I roll my eyes.

"Is there anyone who wants to volunteer to go first?" Miss Lamb asks.

"We will!" two girls stand up at the front in their cheerleading uniform. I try not to associate myself with the cheerleaders. Personally, I don't even understand why we have cheerleaders at our school. They're not needed. However, our school loves to have everything they possibly can, so the cheerleaders exist, and I loathe them.

"Alice and Rosie, thank you," Miss Lamb smiles.

Alice and Rosie weren't bad. They could tumble and turn, although their technique was ghastly. Jack physically shivers next to me. Overall, a reasonable performance, although it was quite plain.

Next, two kids who couldn't dance for toffee. Followed by another two kids who couldn't dance. And another pair who at least had the creative aspect of their choreography, but unfortunately just really couldn't perform what they'd choreographed.

Sophia and Cinzia look better. They'd have worked better as a duo instead of going to find male partners, however I understood why they'd done it. With their free time being in B Troupe, as well as rehearsing with Dianne and I, they've taught their partners a few things about dancing, one of which is how to lift. I know for a fact Sophia and Cinzia wouldn't be able to lift each other, so really they'd been quite smart about not being a pair. Neither of their dances were phenomenal, but compared to some of the other so called dances this class was performing, it was top league.

"Zoe and Neil, why don't you go now," Miss Lamb smiles encouragingly at them.

"Saving the best til last," Jack winks at me. After Zoe and Neil, we'll be the last pair who haven't performed. There's a lot of pressure riding on being the last. People tend to forget the first people, but the last are who sticks in their mind the longest. If we mess up, we'll never live it down.

In everything going on at the studio, I hadn't actually seen Zoe and Neil's duet, and I have to admit it was pretty damn good. I mean, obviously being on A Troupe they're some of the best dancers in the whole of Britain, but their dance is exceeding even A Troupe standards. If I wasn't so desperate to dance with Dianne, I would totally put those two up for it with this duet. However, it was the kind of dance a group of teenagers who were not dancers couldn't really appreciate. I see Brad yawn, which is just downright rude. It's MMMBop, it's not like it's a waltz...

"That was beautiful," Miss Lamb looks at them in awe when they take their bow. "Joe and Jack, let's see if you can follow that."

"Oh trust me, we can," Jack straightens his orange PE top as if it were a shirt.

The song plays for what feels like the seven hundredth time that hour (Miss Lamb really should've allowed us to pick our own song instead of making me hate MMMBop by hearing it so much). Contrary to the impeccable technique Neil and Zoe had just given us, mine and Jack's dance is what I like to call a chaotic work of art. We've just thrown our best hip hop moves in and we're just dancing. It's nothing special, but of course a group of non-dancers find it amazing. We get the biggest applause. Neil rolls his eyes, but claps along too.
