Angelica's P.O.VGoing into grade 9 is usually rough on new freshman trying to make friends but for me, it wasn't that hard.
For one, I had Lachlan. My second half; my better half. He was better at making friends than I am anyway, so I just made friends with his friends.
But there was a friend that I've made on my own. My good friend, Flavia, But pronounced like flawia.
We met in my gym class. She was short with long honey blonde hair and brown eyes. Flavia was skinny but she eats like a cow.
But get this; she never gains an ounce of weight! How does she do that? I fail to know the answer to that question. I eat a donut and gain a double chin.
Anyways, Flavia was the opposite of me. She was loud, crazy and daring. She DOES NOT ever say no to a dare. She's rebellious, unlike me.
At first, I was a little intimidated by her. In the girls change room, she would take goofy Snapchat videos with her friends and laugh. I never would of even thought of approaching her.
How we met was the swim portion in gym. I was always a good swimmer. I loved swimming, I love how it relaxes me. I love how the only thing I can think about in the water is about getting to the other side of the pool. It's like nothing exists when I'm in the water.
What I didn't know was that Flavia hated to swim. She was never a good swimmer and I found out that day.
Flavia was the last one in the pool. It was the first time I seen her tense. All of her other friends were already playing around in the deep end.
Once Flavia got in, she looked terrified. Noticing this, I decided to swim up to her. Just to see if she was okay. I would of never done it if I haven't noticed her friends simply forget she even existed.
"Are you okay?"
I asked her. Flavia tried to smile but I didn't even believe it.
"Uh- Yeah. Just... haven't been in the pool for years is all."
Flavia responded. I looked at her, confused.
"Years? You should come more often since swimming is a good skill and all..."
I said, feeling a little awkward. Flavia shrugged.
"I drowned when I was 6. I accidentally slipped in the deep end and been paranoid ever since. Thankfully, a lifeguard noticed right away."
Flavia admitted. That made sense. That must of been terrifying.
"I can swim with you. I can even get a pool noodle to help you a little."
I offered, wondering where my great act of kindness came from. I hardly even know this girl.
But she smiled and told me that she wouldn't mind that.
We've been friends ever since we decided to spend every gym pool time together. Yeah, she still had her popular friends, but she had me too. She might be crazy and goofy on the outside, but on the inside she was soft and trusting.

Something that annoyed the hell out of me in 9th grade was my pointless fights with Lachlan. I call them pointless because most of the fights involved some of Lachlan's friends being jerks. Just because Lachlan had me as a best friend. That's something I certainly don't miss.
"Oh come on, Angelica. I'm sorry."
Lachlan apologized for the 50th time already. I shut my locker a little aggressively and gave him cut eye.
