Eric's Perspective 6 Months
It's harder to hold on each day.
I try to hold on to Rhea's smile, but it's like a flickering light. Only there sometimes, but not when I need it most.
The only thing left is my buddy, Ren. He and I have seen it all. The anguished cries of our comrades as they're blown to smithereens, limbs falling, like warm, chunky rain.
Ren is all I have left.
He is like a son to me, but also my only companion. Rhea is long gone, her light cannot reach me through this darkness, but Ren is here, running blind with me through the pain and suffering.
Today my troop was going out and I felt a sickly foreboding feeling that I would not come back. I heaved a heavy sigh and tucked a little, folded piece of paper into my breast pocket.
