Silently I drift around the dark paths of the graveyard. The zippers on my head jingle softly as I move. It has been quite some time since I was transformed into a human. As a pokemon, I knew my purpose was to find the girl who abandoned me, but now, I lost my drive. There was this empty feeling in my body, the soul that once fulled me now lay dormant in agony. I returned to the place I was left, having nowhere else to go. I hid from the humans that would visit there lost loved ones, never quite trusting them after being left.

So here I was, my ponytail flying lazily in the breeze as I wander aimlessly. The other ghosts here tend to leave me alone, most having never even seen a pokehuman. I turn down another path of graves when I spot someone in the distance, it looked like another human. The cemetery was closed at night to prevent people from getting bothered by the ghosts. I quickly dash into the underbrush, slipping through the trees to the mystery person. While I didn't trust humans I was still fascinated by them. How many hold grief for someone they lost, while others throw you away like trash.

When I got closer I could see they were a young boy. He was staring at the sky, eyes scanning the vast expanse of stars. I grew closer and noticed his eyes were rimmed red, wet streaks trailing from his eyes. Many of the humans that visited had that look, but what got me was the large black spot under his eye. I knew humans sustained longer injuries than us pokemon, most leaving a visible mark, but I had never seen one.

Suddenly, he got up and walked towards the large willow I was hiding behind. I always returned to this tree when the sun rose, it was where I was abandoned. As he grew only a few feet away I could really see how dark the spot on his cheek was, but I paid that no mind, I cared for his eyes. I was captivated by his eyes, they shined with the stars in the sky, lighting up with the cosmos. Swirling pools of emotion and beauty, I could see his soul straight through them.

It was then, at that moment, I felt something. A light and kinda warm feeling spark in my chest. It was the first time since I was turned that I felt a pull to something. I look back at the man to see he had climbed up to one of the branches. I was confused, his shoes were still on the ground, looking like they were holding a piece of paper in place.

When I looked back up I saw he had tied a rope to the branch, the other end around his neck. He was looking at the ground and I knew at that moment what was about to happen. Until then I never care for the humans of the world, their grief and sadness never seemed to bother me. But this human, this special person, made me feel for the first time. I spoke before I could even think.

"Wait!"

He turns and looks down, galaxy eyes going wide as he heard my voice, my body still hidden.

"Please, please come down."

He looked at me with a mix of emotions, he was conflicted, but I still saw the dull resolution in him.

"Why do you care, you don't even know me."

I have never interacted with humans before, I didn't know how to deal with emotions, but I knew this was important. I felt that small warmth flair in me, so I let it guide me.

"I may not know you but I do know you are special."

His gaze turned angry, stars swirling in his glossy lenses.

"That's nothing special about me! I'm nothing up a pathetic, useless, waste! I'm nothing to anyone!"

I started to tug on the zipper, feeling my soul wither in destress at his pain. He was getting closer to falling and I acted before thinking. I summon my will-o-whisps and float them to the boy, first burning the rope before turning them harmless and sounding the man. Gently they lift him from the branch and move to the ground. He panicked but I kept a large nest around him. Once he was safely on the ground I dismissed the fire, watching him scramble to his feet. He looked around rapidly, trying to find this mystery person.

"Look, I don't know who, or what, you are but just leave me alone. I'm a nobody."

Drops of water started to fall from his eyes as he looked to the ground, the stars were gone from his eyes.

"That's where you're wrong."

I took a deep breath and stepped out fully from the tree, revealing my patchwork body. He sucked in a breath as he took in my apprentice. I suddenly felt very nervous, my soul moving with this new heat. I reached up and fidgeted with the zipper on the corner of my mouth. It was something I did as a pokemon and stuck with me as a human. I knew I didn't look the most friendly, I was covered in stitches and scars, zippers and shadows all over my body. Still, I looked directly at him, my deep ruby meeting his glassy stars.

"I am Banette, I have been in this cemetery for as long as I have been alive. ever since I first came to life I had a purpose, to find the girl who abandoned me, but when I became human I lost all drive. I lost feeling, purpose, life. I returned to the place of my birth and have been wandering since, devoid of feeling, only ever feeling cold."

I felt the water I had seen so many humans make as they saw there resting loved ones.

"Then I saw you, for the first time in so long, I felt something, I felt my soul wake up and a strange warmth fill my chest. I've seen hundreds of humans, none have ever made me feel anything before. There is something in you that calls to me, you are important to me. I don't know how or why, I have never understood human emotions, but I do know that my soul sings for you."

He just looked at me, water and emotion in his eyes. He suddenly ran to me and pulled me to his chest, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. My body was engulfed in a firey warmth as his emotions flooded me, feeling a fire I never knew I could.

"Thank you, thank you so much."

I wrapped my arms around him, feeling like I was on fire, a golden warmth filling me with life. My soul soaring, telling me to do something. We pulled away looking at each other, I smiled at him, showing my sharp zig-zag teeth.

"My name is ____, by the way."

_____...It was then I felt the pull to do something I did even know. I lean forward and pressed my lips to his, pulling him close. He was stiff for a moment before returning my advancement. He brought his hand to my cheek, rubbing his thumb in circles on my zipper. Then, our world exploded in light. Our souls moved and sang with each other as four glowing orbs descended upon us, two swirling around each of us. They sunk into our chest, tieing to our very soul. When the world faded back to noraml it was then I remembered the only other move I knew. Destiny bond.
