Chapter 3: The Skeleton King

I just want you all to know that from this point on I will be switching back and forth between Azrael(Delsin) and Irina, to give you guys both perspectives of the story. Azrael may be thinking one thing and Irina may be thinking of another. That sort of thing. Anyway, let's get on with this.

(Azrael pov)

I can't remember what else happened after last night, but I'm just glad it's the weekend. I needed to escape everything for now. I needed to make sure that I can't be found for a while. I put my armour on equipped my flail and shield. Then I turned on my Xbox and started up Diablo. Like before I got sucked into the game. I started back at the cathedral entrance. I continued forward and found a passage leading into the undercroft. It was fairly quiet for some reason. That was until I saw a group of cultists surrounding a man bound in chains while chanting. Before I could do anything a vision flashed before me showing me a new ability. Due to my past gaming escapades I was able to carry over abilities from other games that are similar to this game. I smirked and grabbed my cross and held it out reciting a prayer I learned while playing Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2.

In anima nec in corpore!" I shouted out disrupting their chanting and killing them in the process by the shockwave of Holy energy produced. The prayer itself is used to destroy those with the intention to do evil. I approached the man in chains and helped him to his feet. Once he got his bearing he thanked me and introduced himself as Kormac. A Templar sent here to investigate the fallen star. He told me that these cultists are behind most of the troubles caused in New Tristram. He asked me to help him retrieve his gear before heading in the direction of the fallen star. The way down was annoying, to say the least. These cultists were way too easy to kill, but there was so many of them. I did gain XP from the slaughter-fest but give me a challenge for fuck sake. 

We arrived at the inner halls of the cathedral and found the Horadrim Deckard Cain running from a group of undead. I charged at them bashing my shield causing them to explode into tiny pieces. With the threat over the old man thanked us and told us that the dead rising from the grave was caused by none other than the Skeleton King, Leoric. It was known that King Leoric was a just ruler in Tristram for many years. That is until he was driven mad by the Prime Evil, Diablo. At that point members of his court grew weary of the mad king and decided as a whole to end his life. However he vowed to come back from the dead, and he did with a vengeance. The Horadrim, Deckard, led Kormac and I out of the cathedral back to town. Once we arrived Leah rushed to us and hugged the old man. Moments after the heartwarming reunion Kormac and I went to talk to Haedrig, the blacksmith. Deckard told us that his father was buried with Leoric's Crown. Which I found annoying that it was the only way to kill the dead man...AGAIN! He agreed to show us where his father's grave was, but we had to help him with something that he just couldn't do himself. By the sound of his voice, I knew what it was. It only took a minute and I came out of his cellar covered in the blood of his wife and the other unfortunate citizens that started to turn into the undead. I nodded to him and told Haedrig that it was done. He led us to the cemetery where his father was buried. We found the grave and then I started digging. Once I hit the casket I opened it up and took the crown. Once I took it I helped Haedrig rebury his father and escorted him back to town. When that was over, Kormac and I headed back to the cathedral undercroft to reach the throne room.
