Chapter 5: Kokabiel vs. Harvester pt.1

Xenovia was very nosy while we were searching for those renegade church members. She kept asking me how long I have had feelings for Irina, and when I became a Crusader. They were simple questions but they were really annoying. I told her what she wanted to know and she was satisfied for now. Moments later we came across an old warehouse. We entered it to find something...unexpected. They were blueprints and floor plans for Kuoh Academy and in the middle of the campus courtyard, was what looked like a transmutation circle. In the margin were the words "It has come to my attention that very important Ley-lines intersect in this location. Therefore making it crucial to my master Kokabiel's plan to reignite the war between the Three Factions, by combining the remaining Excalibur fragments to create a weapon for the side of the Fallen Angels." This had to be Valper's handwriting. Then I put two and two together and the revelation alarmed me. We had to warn Rias and the others about the threat. Xenovia agreed and followed me to try and find Irina and Kiba. We caught up to them in the forest and told them about what is going to happen if we don't stop Valper's plans. Then came the slow dramatic clapping we dreaded to hear. 

"It seems that my plans have been foiled. Whatever shall I do?" the heretic Archbishop said with exaggerated sarcasm. His voice made Kiba's blood boil, but I told him not to lash out yet, "I'm very impressed my boy. Not only did you manage to live after I left you to rot, but you managed to uncover my plans after that. Bravo!" he said emphasizing the bravo. After his brief monologue, he snapped his fingers and 10 Fallen Angels appeared through a magic circle. "Too bad, you won't live long enough to stop me from enacting them." This arrogant bastard really thinks this will stop us? A tick mark started to form on the side of my head because of his this. Either way, this wasn't a problem for me. I told Irina and the others that I can handle these guys and that they should go after Valper before he enacts his plans to combine the swords for Kokabiel and his minions. Irina looked hesitant, but she agreed to the plan and took off with the others. Now it was just me and these clowns.

"You made a big mistake telling your friends to leave you behind Nephalem." A fallen said. Each of them formed a spear of light in their hands ready to throw at me. Lucky for me I picked up a few tricks. I released my wings and called forth Harvester bursting into a mixture of black and red flames. I was pissed but not that much. Thus the mixed colors. This added to the fear factor that I was giving off. I discarded my shield and turned Harvester into its scythe form. "Trust me, pal, it's a good thing that they left because I still haven't quite mastered this power yet," I said. I then dashed towards the first fallen and cleaved him in two from the crotch up. It was at this point I lost all my self-control and began slaughtering the lot of 'em. The second one was burned alive, the third was impaled with the fourth one's light spear while I decapitated him. The fifth one was crafty and tried to blow me up with some sort of bomb magic only to get a fist through the chest. The sixth one was blindly throwing light spear after light spear hoping to land a hit on me, but I was just too fast for him. I ended up snapping his neck before he could even blink. The rest were just frozen in fear as I brought down a bolt of holy lightning electrocuting them without mercy. Once that was over I dispelled Harvester and began to search for the others by using observe to find out where they went, but there wasn't any residual energy left in the area to find them. I decided that I should contact Rias and the others to prepare for the attack on the school. Since Rias was staying with Issei and Asia it didn't take long. I rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer. Coincidently it was Rias.

"Azrael? What are you doing here?" she asked. I told her everything that happened and she nodded and called Sona to help find the others who were tracking down Valper and the rest of the Excalibur fragments. Several hours later we arrived at the railroad where we saw what looked like a tornado swept through. There were knows signs of Kiba and Xenovia anywhere. Not even Irina. That is until I found her lying in her own blood with a hole the size of my fist in her chest. I ran over to her side to check her pulse. She was alive but just barely. Then she opened her eyes and smiled when she saw me.

"A-A-Azrael? I-I'm s-s-s-so s-sorry." she could barely finish her sentence and her pulse was starting to slow down. "I'm ha-happy that I could see you...one last...time..."

"No no no no no!!!! Irina stay with me, please!!" I said with tears starting to form in my eyes. Then her pulse stopped. Just as I was about to break down I hear Asuramaru speak to me. 

"I can help you save her, but you will have to use your Balance Breaker's Vampire Drive. However, if you do this, you won't come back from it. You will still be a Nephalem, but you will become a Vampire also."

"I don't care as long as I save her!" I yelled out loud to Asuramaru.

"Then repeat after me. I, who am about to awaken,"

Once I finished that chant I was enveloped in a torrent of green flames. My appearance changed drastically. I grew fangs and my skin turned pale. Knowing what to do I opened my mouth and bit into my wrist and wrenched the blood into Irina's mouth. Rias and the others saw what I've done and they were speechless. Sona finally spoke up and told the others her knowledge of my Sacred Gear. According to her, I was the wielder of one of the 4 lost Longinus. She also had some knowledge of what will happen as I use my Vampire Drive. She was right because once I dispelled it my fangs remained albeit a little shorter to look normal. Just as she finished explaining Irina started to wake up. I didn't hesitate and kissed her right then and there. She was surprised, but she didn't mind. In fact, she was relieved. She was relieved that I wasn't angry at her, that I kissed her again. But our kiss didn't last long as we heard an amused laughter from above us. 

"So that is what the Nephalem Crusader, Azrael Delgren is capable of?! Color me, impressed boy!" The black-winged elf said while laughing. Judging by his number of wings my guess was that this was Kokabiel. My blood started to boil with rage as my wings sprouted from my back. The number of wings my wings changed for some reason. Before I had one Devil wing and one Angel wing. Now I had three of each. I was surprised at first but I didn't linger. My rage took hold of me as I summoned Harvester and erupted in black flames with slight hints of green and red.

"YOU BASTARD!!!! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO HURT IRINA!!!! FOR THAT YOU'LL PAY DEARLY!!!!!!" He was unfazed and continued laughing. I charged at him with my scythe drawn ready to cleave this bastards head off his shoulders. Just as I was about to hit I was batted away like I was a fly.

"HAHAHA!!!!! I like you boy! You have the fire in you I wanted to see in countless others before! Now I have something to amuse me!" the bastard said making a mockery of me. I grit my teeth and told Sona to get Irina to safety and she did. Before I could attack that bastard fallen he teleported away. I swear I will make that bastard pay! I will make them all pay! That's when I gave into the rage and blacked out.

Hello ladies and gents. I have had fun making this chapter. It's a short one I know but I've been pretty busy lately. So yeah Azrael is now a Nephalem Vampire Trybrid through the use of his version of Juggernaut Drive. There is a way to reverse it, but I won't spoil anything.
