The next day was a school day. Camilla was very excited to attend school that day, unlike the other teenagers in her class. And why not, she was the best student in the class, enjoyed most of the school work and had her best friend Hamila to meet with on the way to school.
Plus you can meet Dakarai today, the mysterious voice added.
Yes, so you could say that she was very excited for the day ahead of her.
She woke up before her alarm clock did which wasn’t a usual thing though she didn't mind. Once she was fully alert she turned it off—so that it would not go off while she was awake—and then hopped out of bed. Then she slipped on her slippers and walked out of her bedroom and down the hallway on her way to the bathroom.
No one else was awake yet, though they would soon be. The house was eerily quiet, apart from the sound of Camilla's blue fluffy slippers on the wooden floorboards and the boiler activating itself up. She placed her hands on one of the radiators. ‘Still cold,’ she murmured to herself.
It was awfully lonely for Camilla to be walking around this big house, especially if with no one. At times it could also get a tad creepy, especially at night.
Once she reached the bathroom she stared at her tousled hair in the cabinet mirror, her fingers scratching at her scalp. Then Camilla retrieved her blue toothbrush from inside of the cabinet. She reached for the toothpaste and squirted twice the pea size onto it then began to scrub at her teeth. Every now and then she would spit into the sink.
A minute or two later, she rinsed out the sink with tap water and then also reached for her BriteSmile mouthwash and put some into her mouth; she threw her head back and loudly gargled.
Once done she inhaled a mouthful of air and then exhaled it, loving the strong minty taste of her breath and the smoothness of her teeth. Her tongue moved along the top set of her teeth and she smiled.
Camilla put everything that she had used back in their place and then rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. It was still eerily quiet—apart from her silent breathing in and out—but she could hear the boiler gurgling, meaning that it was now fully activated. She sat on the edge of the bath tub and filled up the bucket with both hot and cold water mixed together.
She shed off her clothes and stepped inside of the bath then pulled close the curtain.
"Rachel, are you done yet!" Camilla shouted. Rachel had just finished brushing her teeth and was now taking her bath though she seemed to be taking quite a long time. Camilla was almost fully prepared; she had her packed school bag near the door, was dressed into her school uniform and her hair was styled into a ponytail—all that she needed to do now was have breakfast.
"Wait, give me just five minutes!" Rachel answered back to Camilla. Rachel sighed and began to sing a Spiritual for the billionth time in her short life. Camilla rolled her eyes and stayed sat on the toilet seat, waiting for the five minutes to be up. She drummed her fingers on the side of the sink, creating a catchy tune.
For what seemed like hours, the five minutes were finally up. Camilla was ready to open her mouth to announce this, and then Rachel jumped out of the bath with a towel wrapped around her. She stuck her pink tongue out at her sister, and then walked out of the bathroom not giving her a chance to get a word in.
Now that Rachel was getting dressed in her bedroom, she decided that she would start on breakfast for the two of them. She went into the kitchen and got out the toaster, and plugged it into the already switched on socket. Then she searched around in the fridge for bread, and put out four crusted slices of bread.
