"Feyi and Camilla, sitting in a tree" Hamila chanted. Camilla rolled her eyes and tried to ignore her voice. She blamed him, for everything that happened that night. He had the biggest mouth she had ever seen of. If there was a contest for the person who could chat the most, it would surely be Feyi.
The three of them crossed the road, just a few steps from school. She hoped that Hamila would keep quiet, or else everyone would hear her. Oh, she definitely hoped not. Camilla hit her in the shoulder, trying to stop her voice chanting that silly chant.
Rachel was also getting tired of the whole 'Camilla and Feyi' thing. It wasn't that much big of a deal even if Camilla did like him.
She didn't like him though. When his lips collided with hers she was most definitely shocked. His breath had smelt of boiled fish and pickled eggs, which was definitely the worst form of smell. The moment she had got back home that Saturday night she spent almost thirty minutes brushing her teeth and scrubbing her lips with soap.
Oh, and his lips. Ugh, those horrible lips. They were completely chapped, and felt like sand paper. She had to agree that even Mosi was a better kisser.
Though then what about Dakarai? She wanted for Dakarai to hold her in his arms and kiss her in front of the whole playground. Maybe if she told Hamila who she truly liked then she would eventually shut up about Feyi.
But it felt like it was too late now. Two boys - who she honestly hated - had kissed her. Even though Dakarai knew that Mosi had kissed her for the fun of it, what would he do if he found out about Feyi?
Camilla was tired from all of this drama. She just wanted Dakarai, even if he didn't like her. If they got together then maybe she could try and change his mind.
After a few moments of arguing in her mind, she had made up her mind. She was going to confess to Dakarai her true feelings for him.
Once Dakarai had dropped off his siblings he started his way to school. For the whole weekend he couldn't think of anything else but Camilla.
He remembered of the angelic way she spoke, the amazing way she laughed when she found something funny. Maybe one day he could make her laugh. He ached for her; it was as if he hadn't seen her for more than a year.
His weekend had been a horrible one. On the Saturday his mother drank herself in sorrow, crying for her unfaithful husband. He hadn't been seen by anyone of the household since Wednesday. Most likely, he was probably spending his days in a motel room doing things that would be seen as R-rated to the human eye.
Dakarai wished his mother would see sense already. It was as if she was blind.
A few minutes later he reached the school gates. The school playground was full of children, busy with their friends. Dakarai would rather stand on his own waiting for the school bell to go than meet up with Joseph. He had recently begun to get on his complete nerves.
"Watch where you are going" someone mumbled. Dakarai looked around and then down to see a little girl. This person looked quite familiar to him. She had light skin, a small nose, light brown eyes and slightly arched eyebrows.
Then it dawned upon him, she was Camilla's little sister. He noticed that she was holding someone's hand, the same skin colour as hers. His eyes travelled up to see Camilla staring at him. Her mouth was open in surprise, her eyes widened.
"...K-I-S-S-I- Hey Cammy, are you alright?" Her eyes moved away from him and stayed on Rachel. "Um yes, I'm fine" she murmured, and then turned back to Dakarai.
"Hello Dakarai" she said. He awoke from his trance on her and blinked. "Hey" he said.
Hamila coughed and continued from where she stopped.
"Camilla and Feyi sitting in a tree:
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love,
Then comes marriage,
Then comes Feyilla in a baby carriage!"
Feyi? Who was this?
The names 'Camilla and Feyi' drummed through his head. No, it couldn't be. It was supposed to be Camilla and Dakarai.
He had had it all planned out: he would take her out to the park, and then they would share their first kiss. They would go out on numerous dates, and visit each other's houses. The whole school would know about their successful relationship. Then a few years later he would propose to her, and she would cry yes and kiss him. And a few months later they would go on their honeymoon and come back with his wife pregnant, and she would later give birth to a beautiful child.
Camilla and Feyi. Camilla and Feyi. Camilla and Feyi.
"I-I need to go" Dakarai murmured as he pushed past them to enter the school.
