"Do I really have to go? I can't even drink yet." Yuna whined on the phone. It was only a couple of hours after Yeji's softball match and they were already throwing a party to celebrate it. Yeji was insistent though, Yuna had always been so supportive of her and she needed her bestest support system to be there with her.
"Why not? Come on, it will be fun!" Yuna could hear the excitement in Yeji's voice and all of her courage to reject the offer had went down the drain. She couldn't say no; not to Yeji. She sighed as her fingers picked on her slightly chapped lips, a habit that she picked up ever since she started high school.
"So...?" Yeji sounded through the receiver and Yuna sighed once again. Well, it shouldn't be that bad. She can't be the only high schooler that was going to attend the party, right? Yeji had so many acquaintances and Yuna can't be the only high schooler that the older girl knows.
"Okay, I'll be there."
And that was how she found herself standing in front of Yeji's doorstep. The muffled edm noises had replaced the quiet atmosphere that Yuna took her time to appreciate before arriving and the bass shook her insides as she felt the adrenaline rush through her veins.
She's not familiar with any of Yeji's friends or acquaintances. How could she have possibly gotten to know every one if she was a high school student and they were college students? But Yeji was insistent on introducing her to everyone whether she liked it or not. She had the difficulty of understanding why Yeji needed to introduce her to them.
She had been standing by the door for more than five minutes now. She was clad in a denim shorts and an oversized black tank top with some weird patterns on it. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail with light makeup, her beauty was amplified with a few touches and it was enough to make people swoon for her.
Before she could even enter, the door had opened wide and revealed a tipsy Yeji, smiling towards her.
"I had a feeling that you're already here, come on now." Yeji pulled Yuna inside without a warning and the loud edm music finally became louder as it banged against Yuna's eardrums. She looked around to see people scattered all over the place like colonies of ants. Some were knocked out cold on the floor, some were sleeping against the walls and some were disgustingly and sloppily making out to the extent of dry humping each other.
Yuna grimaced, she wasn't used to this kind of scene and boy, she regretted taking up Yeji's invitation.
The older girl pulled her through the hallways and into the lounge where there were a few sober people just being normal. A brunette approached them, a little bit tiny and petite compared to Yuna and Yeji.
"Babe, it's Yuna!"
'Wait... Babe?' Yuna thought silently and her thoughts were answered when the two girls shared a short kiss right in front of her. There was a slight pang in her heart and she knew exactly why but she ignored it as the short girl smiles towards Yuna.
"Hi Yuna. I'm Lia, it's nice to finally meet you."
"Ah, hi... Say, Yeji didn't say anything embarrassing about me, did she?" Lia could only laugh and shook her head no to the rhetorical question as Yeji snickered. Yuna playfully heaved a sigh of relief and a "Thank God" escaped through her lips.
Yeji ended up leaving the both of them to chat and Yuna appreciated the fact that Lia is the one who is with Yeji instead of some other immature and playful girls. Granted, she was one of those girls and although it hurt to admit, Yuna couldn't be more than happy for her best friend.
Several hours into the party, Yuna found herself trying to escape from the crowd and find somewhere nice and quiet to stay at.
As much as she is a cheerful person, she easily gets tired of excessive human contact. A good nap or snacks would help her recharge but where is she gonna take a nap when there are possible horny college students occupying most of the empty rooms upstairs and the fridge raided by whoever thinks they own the house?
