45 - Friends

The days passed quickly: three days later there would be the famous event, in which Bts and Twice would collaborate.
In the morning Momo, unbeknownst to the others, who thought she was going to help the Stray Kids for a choreography, went to Monsta X dorm to practice with Hyungwon for their surprise collaboration.
It had been a couple of days since she, Jungkook and Taehyung had spoken and cleared that unpleasant situation and, even though she felt relieved, she still felt that something was wrong: although Taehyung had told them that everything was ok, the boy, from that morning, no longer joked like before with them, nor spoke who knows how much. It was clear that he kept talking to them only to give the impression that he was not sad.
And Jungkook had also noticed this. The two, together with Jimin, shared the room and when they were alone, Taehyung preferred to sit on the bed listening to the music instead of having a chat with him, as usually happened.
That was why that morning, when Jungkook and Momo found themselves alone in the kitchen, while waiting for everyone else to wake up, they decided to talk about it.

-Noona...I need to talk to you...-  Jungkook said with a distraught and resigned air, while, sitting on the stool, he kept his head resting on his crossed hands like a prayer.

-Yes, I need to talk to you too and I think we want to talk about the same thing...- Momo said seriously, as she had never been before.

-I guess so- the boy said, raising his head and looking at the girl straight in the eye.

Momo sighed and spoke first:
-It's hard ... I don't even know where to start ... Jungkook, I think Taehyung is just pretending that this situation suits him ... He has changed since that day even if he doesn't want to show it, but if the two of us are here talking about it, it means that he is suffering so much that he can't pretend anymore. And it's not fair! He doesn't deserve it ... I'm going to say things that will surely hurt both you and me, but I need to tell them. In a few days all this will end, everyone will follow their own life and career, there will be rare opportunities to see each other ... This experience was one of the most beautiful ever, above all because it allowed me to know you, that you are a boy exceptional in all respects. With your ways of doing, you've made me slowly bond to you to the point of feeling strong feelings-

Momo stopped to catch her breath and to find the best way to say what he should have said.
Jungkook was listening carefully and, even if he didn't want to admit it, he already knew what Momo wanted to tell him and what hurt even more was that he agreed with her.

After a few seconds of silence the girl resumed her speech:
-I'm trying in every way, to find the right words or at least as delicate as possible, but I can't... What I mean is...

-It's better if we continue to be friends...- Jungkook realizing that Momo was in trouble, decided to interrupt her and say that sentence which was as true as it was painful.

-Yes...- Momo lowered her head and, unable to restrain herself, began to cry silently.
Jungkook got up and ran to hold her in his arms and joined her silent cry.

Despite tears and sobs, Jungkook began to speak:
-M-momo also I have strong feelings for you, b-but Taehyung is like a brother to me and I c-can't do this to him. I can't pretend nothing, I can't be happy to his detriment. I feel like shit because I know you will be sick now, but I don't know what to do. Please, understand me...-

-Jungkook you don't have to give me any explanation. I was about to say you the same thing... Unfortunately this is the best choice for our good and that of the group- Momo said after calming down a little.

-Even if we do not stay together, I want you to know that you will be mine, always: no matter who you stay with in the future, your heart will belong to me, as my heart will belong to you. You were the best thing that happened to me and I will never stop thanking our managers for giving us this opportunity- Jungkook said to her, looking in her eyes and giving her the sweetest smile.

Momo looked at him with his big sweet eyes and it was at that moment that she felt she had to tell him those words as beautiful as they were painful:
-Jungkook, I love you-

Jungkook, hearing those words, burst into tears.
- I love you too. Please I want to kiss you one last time-

Momo looked at him with shining eyes and among the saltiest tears, they exchanged the sweetest kiss.

After minutes, now out of breath, the two separated and, after looking at each other and with a bitter smile on their lips, they went upstairs and, before everyone entered their room to wake up their companions, they said:
-See you later...my friend...-

I know, I'm unforgivable! Unfortunately between the last university exams and the fact that I could not find inspiration, I could not write anything. I hope that despite everything you continue to follow the story that will soon end. I know it's not one of the nicest chapters, but I hope you like it anyway.
