Scarlett

Whatever just pulled me out of my horrific memory was unimportant.  Even when I felt strong arms pick me up from the ground. A cool body pressed into my right side as whoever it was carried me. They cradled me to their chest, which rumbled as they spoke.

"Oakley's right." The chest rumbled.

The aftershocks of the memory made my whole body feel weak and numb. A light sweat coated my forehead as I kept my hands pressed to my face.

"Kjell, is there something you aren't telling us?" A familiar voice asked.

"I'll tell you later." The chest carrying me rumbled.

Whoever was carrying me had a deep voice and a very large chest, that was rock solid.

"Is she awake?" Another familiar voice spoke. Erik?

"Yes." Whoever carried me had a very soothing voice. They started moving, but barely jostled me as they walked.

Oh right. I'm currently being kidnapped and taken back to my... To my... To my father.

A sob choked me as it escaped.

The arms around me tightened and I actually found it soothing. If only I had the guts to look up and see who was carrying me.

Suddenly a voice softly sshhed my cries. "You're alright. I'm not letting you go back to that monster. You are safe with me." Something deep inside of me believed him.

Instead of being placed in a car like I expected, I was set down on my familiar couch. What's happening?

The stranger carrying me placed me on the couch while they squatted in front of me. Their arms looped around my waist and I could feel their stare.

I could no longer resist looking at whoever the stranger was.

I slowly pulled my head from out of my hands and looked up to see the biggest man ever. Like ever.

His huge arms were bigger than my head and his thighs were tree trunks. He looked like he lived inside the gym and lifted old oak trees for fun. He was completely muscle.

Despite his huge appearance, I didn't feel intimated. No I felt comfort and warmth.

His soft golden eyes reminded me of honey, as they stared into my green eyes. His soft-looking brown hair was slightly cut on the sides. The hair on top seemed to want to curl. He had natural blonde streaks that ran through his brown hair.  A light stubble coated his chin and cheeks. I really want to run my hands through his hair. I randomly thought. His tanned skin had spent a great deal of time outside. He wore a sweatshirt and blue jeans much like Erik. Whom I noticed staring at me from over mountain man's shoulder.

Hah, mountain man.

I could feel the exhaustion from my mental breakdown starting to set in. Although I was no longer crying so that was a good thing. I still felt numb though. Weirdly though, where mountain man had his hands placed on my hips, felt like they were cold.

"What's your name, beautiful?" Mountain man rumbled. He was still crouched in front of me. His chest leaned against my legs, which were crossed and in front of me on the couch.

My voice sounded weak as I squeaked out my name. "Scarlett."

The man grinned at my name. "My name is Kjell, and it is very nice to meet you." His grin made two dimples appear on either side of his face and I swear I started feeling faint.

I heard footsteps to my left and turned and saw double.

Great, I've gone crazy thanks to my breakdown. I inwardly groaned as I took in the double males.

Kjell chuckled. And since his chest leaned against my legs, I felt it move my whole body. "You're not crazy, their identical twins," He explained.

Which had me looking back at them and blinking twice.

Twins? Identical twins?

I took in their appearance, looking for anything to tell them apart. The only thing slightly different was one wore an expression of concern while the others expression seemed to promise death.

I couldn't help but flinch.

What can I say? Mental breakdowns really set some people back.

Kjell slightly growled, which made my legs rumble, before he spoke. "Don't worry, he isn't mad at you." Kjell shot a glare over to the twin who seemed very angry.

A throat cleared and drew me away from the identical twins. I turned and saw the black hair male from earlier.

"We would like to apologize for this misunderstanding." He said. "It seems our boss decided to leave some things out about you, and that isn't okay. We would like to start over."

My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. "Wait, you're not going to drag me back to my father?" I asked.

"No." Kjell and Erik growled at the same time.

"Why, why not?" I asked. Are they trying to trick me? They were sent here to kidnap me and now they don't want to?

"Because no one hurts my mate." Kjell suddenly said before anyone else could speak.

I watched as all the others seemed shocked by whatever he just said.

I guess I don't understand the significance of that statement.

"That makes so much more sense." Erik broke the sudden silence.

"Sorry, I'm lost. What did any of that mean?" I asked the black-haired male.

"That's not important right now," he said. "Like I said, we would like to start over. I'm Lincoln. This is Erik," he pointed at the redhead. "The one who won't let you go is Kjell," he slightly frowned at how I didn't seem to mind Kjell, "the twin on the left is Oakley, and the one on the right is Aspen. Good luck telling them apart. It took me a thous-Many years" He coughed.

I turned and looked at the twins. Aspen was the one glaring daggers at no one, in particular, while Oakley seemed happier.

I turned and looked back at Kjell, my eyes stopping briefly on Bash's relaxed body as he lounged in his favorite chair.

Where has he been this whole time?

I looked between Erik and Lincoln. A question forming in my head.

"Would someone like to tell me how the hell you all magically appeared in my house?" I blurted as I remembered my seemingly empty house was actually full of extremely hot men.

Something told me my life was about to change. For the better.
