the building before them echoed with muffled music that pounded in jae's head and chest. johnny glanced over at him, giving him a small smile. he knew that younger didn't really want to come but he didn't care. he had dragged him along anyway.
"come on," johnny smiled, tightening his fingers around jae's wrist. a blush filled his stomach, echoing in his chest. he didn't like the feeling and pushed it deep down within him, suppressing it.
johnny pushed the doors open and pulled him into a world he was very unfamiliar with.
neon signs shone down on a vast floor filled to the brim with sweating, lustful bodies. the music which had been quite indistinguishable outside was very clear now as if jae had resurfaced from water.
he glanced around as johnny pulled him forward and through the crowd. it was unlike anything he'd ever seen. pretty women were dancing with their arms slung around the necks of even prettier men. jae ignored that thought.
throats and lips were covered in glitter and vaseline, choking smoke down. hands gripped and squeezed and tightened. legs wrapped and spread wide. jae was astounded. if his parents had even an inkling of knowledge of where he might be right now, he'd be dead.
johnny pulled jae over to a bar and showed two fingers to the bartender. the man had blue nails and a silver choker hugging his neck. he caught jae staring and sent him a wink that shook him to his core.
the bartender laughed and johnny chuckled. jae blushed deeper than he had all night. he didn't mean to be such a prude, it just kind of happened.
the bartender turned back around and set two tiny glasses down on the paint-splattered bar. johnny slid one over to him before downing his own.
a small shudder went through his body as he set the glass back down on the bar. he looked to jae and urged him on with his head.
he looked down at the glass with uncertainty before picking it up. he brought it up to his face, discreetly smelling the venomous liquid. johnny and the bartender watched him with small smirks imprinted on their faces. he sighed and poured the drink into his mouth.
the vile concoction scorched its way down his throat, burning his chest and eating a hole within it. he clenched his eyes and coughed a bit.
johnny and the bartender gave a small cheer that could barely be heard over the music. the same boy clapped a hand over his shoulder, jostling him a bit more than he would have liked.
the bartender handed him a small black tube and blew a kiss towards him before getting back to work. johnny opened the black tube and twisted the bottom of it. a bit of red came up the top of it.
jae realized at that moment that it was lipstick. for some reason, this had shocked him more than anything else. more than the building, more than the people in it, more than the fact that he was here. the fact that johnny—the cliché high school bad boy and total heartthrob to all the girls in his third period—was putting lipstick on.
still, johnny pouted his lips and drew the deep red color across them. when he was done, he ran his tongue over them slowly, maintaining eye contact with him the whole time.
jae glanced away from his deadly stare and ignored the way his stomach blushed at how he looked with the lipstick on.
suddenly the song blaring through the room changed and johnny gasped. "i love this song, come on!" he gripped jae's hand and pulled him away again.
